The Orphanage Aid greets you all as we enter 2014, which promises to be a momentous one for all of us for more than a few reasons. We join you all in giving thanks to God Almighty for guiding us and our dearest Lou Xiaoying safely through all the hardships she has endured.
Lou Xiaoying is more than just a humanitarian. She may be familiar to you as Mama Kong, whose dedication and devotion towards saving abandoned children has touched millions across the globe and her fearlessness through dire conditions has brought peace to many parents and babies and inspired us all. She is a loving mother of three daughters and a son, which she has provided for since her husband Zi Lin's passing several years ago.
Diagnosed with kidney failure in 2012, Mama Kong endured this challenge as she has all other obstacles in her life. From callous civil servants to political accusations, she accepted this new challenge with a fortitude only a heart like hers can muster.
Salvation for Mama Kong lies only in haemodialysis, an aggressive treatment for renal complications and the therapy may need to be done abroad.
Mama Kong is in a place where her health deserves our focus and attention. Time now for those of us who are able to carry her in her hour of need to lend our support. Her legacy of helping orphaned children has been set in stone, now she needs our help. We welcome your support and donations. Mama Kong’s Life
Lou Xiaoying (alternate spelling: Kong Zhenlan) has left her gentle mark on the world; rescuing infant babies, she nurtured and cared for them, breathing new life into children abandoned by their parents.
You may have heard the story of Mama Kong. The tale of a woman who gave what little she had to save infants she found at death's door; abandoned to fend for themselves in streets or unceremoniously dumped in garbage bins as so much offal.
The essence of generosity and the embodiment of compassionate love, she has shouldered the responsibility of caring for abandoned babies, raising them alongside her own children. Her maternal instincts know no boundaries, regardless of her circumstances, she has provided unconditional love to each and every child.
Mama Kong would recycle garbage to feed her adopted family and the squalor and pestilence of poverty have taken their toll.
She may be very sick at the moment but her passion for the welfare of her adopted children has not diminished. It is crucial that she knows she is not alone in her fight for these innocent children and that there are people who care.
The communist country she resides declines support, choosing instead to act out with hostility and spite against her cause. Even through the hatred from those who should be aiding her, she remains humble and loving; selflessly providing inspiration and comfort to those around her. There is simply no limit to her natural spirit of selflessness.
How many of us can say we have the guts and empathy to do what she has done?
How many of us have the courage to fend for those less than fortunate than ourselves?
Mama Kong did not open her heart and home to prove a point; she has never expected understanding for her cause. We do however owe it to ourselves to keep a light like Mama Kong in this world for as long as we can. The smallest deed can save her life; a seemingly insignificant amount may make the difference. In the last year her conditioned deteriorated due to heart and renal failure, hypertension and complications due to severe anemia, pneumonia and malnutrition and these complications are progressing.
Lou Xiaoying had managed to suppress the pain with smiling as much as possible; sharing her love with those around her; unfortunately, this isn’t the case anymore.
Her agony has increased painfully, with has resulted in loss of speech and weight. Needless to say, a spirit like Lou Xiaoying will still smile, even through such trying times as she is facing, but it’s not getting easier. A group of specialized doctors are currently working on ways to find the relation between her conditions and how to restore her health.
Today, Lou Xiaoying suffers from kidney failure. The picture above shows her on a hospital bed; her happiness apparent at seeing two of her children.

Mama Kong has to endure aggressive haemodialysis three times a
week along with medication for infection as well as
anti-inflammatory. She is administered other drugs for blood
pressure, her heart and anemia condition as well as nutritional supplements.
So many lives have been spared because of her courage and love. Now it is time for her to receive the same selfless care from others - us - for her hour of need is at hand.
Mama Kong inspired us when discovered how she selflessly cared for infants who were left to die of starvation or exposure, the least we can do is to share our love and empathy. She is living proof that one person can make a world of difference if the desire is strong enough. Now the community she has served so sincerely needs to tend to her wounds and pain. Lou Xiaoying might be human like the rest of us, be she is a mother of the earth. Her life speaks of simplicity and although her hands were rough and dirty from scavenging for survival, her heart and mind was pure. Her immediate children have never known luxury and with a limited education they are engaged in ordinary labor. To them she is still a great figure of compassion.
Raising three daughters in a culture where only sons are deemed valuable, she could have easily walked past those crying babies. She chose instead to embrace them as her own, increasing her poverty.
Saving these infants has been Lou Xiaoying's life-work these past four decades. Many children were adopted by friends and other family members, and those that did not move on, she made part of her family. A little baby girl she saved in 1972 knows only Lou as her mother.
Their house was a run-down building divided into small rooms. It was neither significant or comfortable, but it was the center of the universe for those children. They did not care where the house was situated or what it looked like, as long as Mama Kong was there to take care of them.
We want to enable every resource to help her past this ordeal and the only way we can achieve this is with your help. For the first time Lou is depending on someone else. The only justification is to give her the help she is asking for. As little as one dollar will add to relieving her pain and sharing this message with others will make it possible for those able to contribute to make a difference.
Funds received by “The Orphanage Aid” are primarily used for the
necessary materials to take care of abandoned children at the Happy
House and for our earthly angel Mama Kong.
We aim to help
renovate the Happy House where Lou can experience some peace and
happiness after more than 40 years of hard work. Fundamentally we want
to sponsor the treatment Lou is currently receiving and a child who
might be suffering from medical ailment that leads to physical limitations.
