My name is Austin Deckard, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest months I’ve faced in a long time.

Over the last month, my life has been turned upside down. My grandpa was recently diagnosed with skin cancer, and I’ve needed to miss work to help take care of him and make sure he isn’t facing this alone. Family comes first, and being there for him has meant everything  but it has also come at a real financial cost.

At the same time, I’ve been dealing with serious health issues of my own. In just one month, I’ve had strep throat and then COVID-19, which forced me to miss even more work while recovering. Between caring for my grandpa and being sick myself, my ability to earn an income has been hit hard.

I’m doing my best to stay strong and keep moving forward, but the missed work has made it difficult to keep up with everyday expenses, rent and just make ends meet. This fundraiser is meant to help cover basic living costs and rent while I get back on my feet and continue supporting my grandpa through his treatment, as well as my own recovery.
