The coaching staff and volunteers decided to facilitate educational opportunities, athletic excellence, promote physical fitness and sportsmanship with desire to challenge kids and to keep them off the streets. The medium we chose to create this environment is competitive youth football. Our football team(s) were formed to join and compete in the Florida Youth Development (FYD) Tampa Pop Warner under the club name Westchase Colts.
Westchase Colts Youth Football was founded in 2001 and now has 200 member families. The Westchase Colts is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that provides an extensive youth tackle football and cheerleading program to the youths of the Tampa Bay Area. It is our goal to provide a safe and wholesome atmosphere where kids can learn and practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness, all the while having a good time along the way. Our program stresses learning lessons beyond the football field such as self-discipline, teamwork, concentration friendship, leadership and sportsmanship. The Westchase Colts accepts youth regardless of race, creed, athletic ability or income level. Our safe exercises, drills and rules are there to ensure that all kids are physically and mentally prepared for the game of football and cheerleading. We will exercise their bodies and minds in an effort to develop the skills needed in our program and in life.
We scored 425 points on offense and gave up only 28 points all year long. Our motto is “Keep Fighting.” Our team has been together for 3 straight years and will continue together for many more. This season we went 14-0, we are the first ever Mighty Mite Southeast Regional Champions in Pop Warner history. We’ve designed a ring in honor of our boys hard work and want them to have something to show for it.
We are the top MM team out of 200 teams in the Southeast and #1 team lives in Tampa Bay.
