We are trying to raise the necessary funds to protect our community for so many reasons. This campaign and your money is to be used for the sole purpose of funding the legal effort to file a legal appeal. If our goal is reached, all money will be transferred in escrow to the lawyer, with only the administrative costs deducted*. Our goal is $8500.

We legally had 45 days from 12/15/15, our deadline is 1/29/16 and we must give the attorney next week to draft the appeal. This is why we have set a deadline of Monday 1/25/16 to fund the campaign. The time is now. The land is being surveyed NOW! Our community and surrounding neighborhoods would be negatively impacted forever.

BACKGROUND:

At a 12/15/15 Parsippany Council meeting, with the holidays upon us, unknown to most, against the wishes residents made clear October 2014, and contrary to the promises made to pursue open space, the council of Parsippany approved an ordinance to "amend" it's master plan adding a "New RC retail commercial district" solely for the purpose to accommodate a single developer and a single project.

We have 45 days to appeal this decision:

1. We have found a knowledgeable, respected attorney who is aware of our plight and willing to represent us but our time is short!

2. The cost of filing the time sensitive appeal is approximately $8500

3. The potential additional cost of seeing this process through is $20000-$25000.

The land is being surveyed now to begin the work of this reborn plan with a increased buffer that we are being asked to pay for. We sincerely thank the group Citizens for Health, Safety & Welfare who worked to remove the Target or Big Box component and keep low income housing at bay. However, this is not the outcome anyone was promised, wanted, or should be bullied to stomach.
