We know times are tough for many, but this is an emergency. Lily needs surgery due to pyometra, an infected uterus. This is a life-threatening emergency in female dogs. It is similar to appendicitis in humans--if it ruptures, the infection spreads inside the body and the outcome is likely to be very bad. She MUST have a hysterectomy in order to survive.
Sadly, Lily's owner is suffering extreme financial difficulty. They have been recovering from emergency surgery of their own, plus an infection, for the past several weeks, so money was already tight to begin with. Now it is desperation mode, so they have to swallow their pride and ask for help to save her.
Lily is being managed with (expensive) medications while she waits in line for her turn at surgery. Due to COVID-19 and lockdowns, it's a long line behind any sicker dogs who turn up, but this gives them the chance to raise the funds needed ASAP. It's already cost £800 just to stabilize her. We are fundraising for an additional £1,600 to cover the surgery, intensive care, and all medications post-surgery.
