For the last 8 years I have been on a wild medical roller coaster with many scary times. Finally I found the solution with a surgery that will restore my health and give me back my life…. Only kicker is medical insurance won’t cover it because a dentist is the one that found the solution and it’s $67K.
Beginning in 2017 my extensive neurological complications began with little to no explanation. My story began with Trimenginal Neuralgia (excruciating pain in the nerves in my face). 2020 I got Covid and neurological symptoms progressed to three strokes over a 11 month period. One requiring an ICU hospital stay after receiving TPA. Fortunately cognitive, speech and physical therapy restored me back to only deficits that medical professionals can detect. In October 2022, I had Bell’s Palsy six hours after the Flu Vaccine. April 2024 I started having Hemiplagic Migraines where one side of body would paralyze for multiple days at a time. January 2025 began with a new diagnosis of neurogenic bladder (urine retention, brain not getting the signal to my bladder) and my Neurologist ordered a full panel of lab tests as well as $1,000 in MRI’s to find a cause. Unexpectedly in March a small tumor labeled metastatic (cancer) was found in my basal ganglia (brain) and that has remained a watch and wait as it has remained the same size. I spent the summer debunking the cancer prognosis and all organ tests came back clear. Praise God!
Fast Forward to July 9, 2025 is the day my life changed and all
the missing pieces to my medical history puzzle were put together.
Dentist Timothy Pruett had a family member with a small amount of my
history and has done a lot of research connecting neurological
problems to the oral cavity. That day he ran a saliva study on me and
during a two and a half hour appointment we walked through every step
of my unexplainable medical history. Dr. Pruett assured me that day he
would be able to help restore my quality of life back to normal.
Two weeks later my saliva study results came in and I have 7 GENETIC
bacterias that cross the blood brain barrier and destroy bone living
in my mouth. These bacteria access the brain through the basal ganglia
and cause strokes, brain bleeds and much more extensive cardiac
issues. Finally we have found the answer!!! Here is the kicker the
solution is not covered by insurance and it is $67,000.
Solution: clear all my teeth out of my mouth, bone grafts for my
deteriorated Maxilla and strong antibiotics, prebiotics and probiotics
to change the genetic flora of my mouth. Five implants on top screwed
into the middle of my Maxilla and five implants on the bottom screwed
into Mandible to restore my chewing ability and prevent more deterioration.
Q&A-
Q Is this something that could of been prevented? Or could of been fixed prior?
A- Only if I would of met Dr. Pruett after his family member suffered
medical complications and he linked it back to bacteria crossing the
blood brain barrier. I have had dental care my whole life.
Q- Is this for cosmetic purposes?
A- No, if I just wanted a new grill there is no way I would be
asking for help to pay for it. Although this will give me the ability
to be able to enjoy the benefit of smiling again or eating food in
public without embarrassment. Ultimately this is for prevention of
progression of bacteria attacking my nervous system and brain.
Q- When is your surgery?
A- November 6 and November 10
Q- When does the money have to be raised by?
A- Payment is due one week prior to Surgery (October 29)
Q- Can this surgery wait till you can gather the funds?
A- Unfortunately no, not only am I losing teeth to a point that it is
hard to eat, I am also a ticking time bomb of the next neurological
complication including but not limited to tumor growth, stroke, brain
bleed or on the lighter side, costly hospital admissions with higher
risk of permanent deficits.
Q- Can’t you just get a loan?
A- I have exhausted all those options, with the divorce and him being
$30,000 behind in child support exhausting any savings plus spending
the last two years in Nursing school approval for a loan is not available.
