My name is Lauryn,  I’m an environmental engineering student  from Venezuela. I’m currently going through the first stage of cervical cancer caused by high risk HPV type 56 and type 31. Due to the current economic crisis in my country (Venezuela) it's impossible for me to gather the money to get healthy again as the current average salary for a student like me is just $160 a month. 

Conization is the main procedure I need to remove the cancer cells and prevent the disease from spreading further. It’s an expensive procedure and the pre-op and post-op make it even more expensive. 

My family is also poor so they can’t help me, and the current economic crisis in Venezuela is increasingly difficult. Inflation, the shortage of medicines and the general crisis make everything more complicated.

I feel overwhelmed by fear, uncertainty and sadness. But I also feel an immense inner strength that drives me to move forward. I want to beat this disease, I want to continue studying, I want to help my family and community, I want to live.

Asking for help is not easy, but I’m in a desperate situation and I need the solidarity of all of you. Any donation, however small, will bring me closer to the possibility of receiving the treatment I need and move forward with my life. I want to thank in advance all those who take the time to read. I will leave below all the costs that I need to cover and the medical tests. 

The costs are as follows:

• Conization: $542 (surgery). ⏳ (at the cheapest place we found, this might or might not increase depending on availability at the clinic. We already have collected the money for this).

Pre-Operative Assessment:

• Chest X-Ray:  $40 ✅
• Full Blood Panel: $40 ✅
• Assessment appointment with doctor: $50 ✅

Post-Operative Care: 

• Biopsy: $196 ⏳
• 3 doses of Gardasil 9 to avoid the reappearing of cancer cells: $250 each = $750 total (this is an expensive vaccine as it can only be imported from abroad but it's highly important to avoid cancer cells from reappearing in the future). ⏳
• Antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicine: Around $10 to $20 ⏳ 
• Follow up appointment to check on wound's progress: $50 ⏳

Extra expenses:

• Transportation to Caracas: We need around $100 for bus and taxis fares (you can check ticket costs here).⏳
• Food for stay in Caracas of 1 day and a half in surgery day (Optional but would of great help): $100 (check rough prices here for reference).⏳

Optional (but important) expenses:

• Vaccines for my boyfriend to avoid reinfection: $250 x 3 = $750 
• Urologist appointment: $50 

Note from Andres: This is totally optional guys, the only reason I'm adding it here is in case the campaign gets more than the goal, as I can't afford this myself due to the extremely low salaries in the country. However, if I don't do this I will do it later on when we manage to leave the country as it's not an urgency.

Aside from these expenses I also have to pay a 15% of the total amount collected to a vendor in order to exchange the Paypal money to my local currency + a 5% of Paypal fee which I will also include in the goal.
