1. Hello, I am Dez and on 11th March this year one of my two beautiful Staffies sustained a disc injury in his spine. Unfortunately it took 4 days to reach a proper diagnosis ( I was being told he had a poorly tummy) and any operation was time critical (to be done within 2 to 3 days of injury occurring) for any chance of success.  It was also very expensive £4,500 which I didn't have. On the 4th day after his injury he was totally paralyzed in his hind quarters.

It was a devastating blow not just to Woody but his sister Jessie from the same litter too as they enjoyed running free and playing together at any opportunity, resulting in two fit and healthy dogs. 

The advice from PDSA and a private vet was for euthanasia or be prepared for lots of hard work caring for him, I chose the latter option as he only turned 7 on 3rd April and his sister and many people would miss him greatly if he was put to sleep, as well as him losing out on many years of his life. 

• I've realised over the past 6 weeks caring for him that the one thing that would greatly improve his quality of life would be a set of wheels.  After much research I have established that the ones most suitable for an active dog like Woody would be a make called Walkin wheels,  highly recommended by vets and animal carers/therapists. They would give him the chance to run free with his sister again even on rough terrain.  Including postage from the USA they come to approx £450 sterling which is what I'm trying to raise, thanks to the kindness of Chrissy's hope Woody now has his wheels , or rather they are on their way to me so any extra raised would go towards any future vet costs I.e. antibiotics for possible UTIs. harness, boots, cost of neutering
