After 8 long years, Ky Peterson is finally coming home. The Georgia Department of Corrections has given Ky a new release date of July 2020!
Ky has served ALL of his time in Pulaski State Prison. Over the years, he has formed a support system that has always helped out in times of need. He will soon be moved to a new facility where he will spend his final year of incarceration. While it is a huge step forward for Ky, he will be starting over with new people in a new place. Ky is excited but anxious about the move. This new facility is several hours away from his family, which makes family visits nearly impossible.
We are hoping to raise funds to support Ky during his final year and help pay for his family to visit Ky at least one weekend a month.
Visitation funds will cover gas and lodging for Ky's family to make the trip.
Support funds will help get Ky set up with personal needs when he arrives at the new facility.
The new facility is a GDOC prison, so the same rules apply:
Georgia prisons do not allow inmates to receive personal packages from anyone. Inmates may ONLY receive money from individuals on an Approved Visitation List. Donations cover items that are not provided by the state but can be purchased from the prison Commissary such as:
- Food - GA does not provide lunch on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Holidays. Most inmates are only fed 1 meal per day on the weekends.
- Personal hygiene-The prison does not provide shampoo, deodorant, or other basic hygiene needs.
- Communications Supplies - Paper, envelopes, stamps, and writing supplies must be purchased through prison commissary.
- Phone Minutes - In order to make calls, a card with phone minutes must be purchased from the prison. Local calls are $.17 per minute. Calls can only be made to people on an approved phone list.
An additional way to show support is by donating Amazon Gift Cards. We are able to order books for Ky through Amazon. Books have to be approved by the prison before we can order them.
For security reasons, the DOC has not given him a specific date or the exact facility that he will be moved to. We do expect to move to take place within a month. As soon as he is moved, I will post an update with his new information and mailing address.
