I got my place in this year's London Marathon via a ballot place, which meant I wasn't obliged to fund raise for a charity.

Some of you told me I was mad to run the Marathon again as I'd completed it 5 years ago and not had the best experience! However I wanted to beat the original time. (5hrs)

On Sunday 26th April, I completed it in 4 hours, 31 minutes 33 seconds, so was very happy considering every week, I had a different injury.

After mile 10, my injuries really started to get painful, but for me it was temporary and I knew when the race was over, I'd feel OK. Whilst running I thought about all the people I know/knew who suffered and are still suffering from illnesses and the constant pain they have. One person in particular was on my mind.

There is a lovely lady in our community who is suffering everyday from the evil illness we know as Cancer. Her name is Penny Yiota Daniels, she is 39, married has 2 beautiful children and lives in Derbyshire.

She has been fighting with Cancer since 2006!

She's had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and underwent surgery. In 2014, unfortunately, the cancer came back. Penny had further treatment which was unsuccessful.

To beat her fight against Cancer, Penny is now having specialist treatment in Germany which is proving costly but hopeful.
