Bethany Madrid hasn't added a story.
In 2006, when Remington Acres Equine Services, Inc. (RAES -Shelter
#1104759) was created as a safe sanctuary for neglected and abused
animals. We are a service organization dedicated to serving horses,
horse people and the community at large. RAES is managed by a group of
dedicated volunteers and sponsors, however the brunt of the
responsibility is carried by our founder and her husband: Rosemarie
and Terry Westover. They have dedicated their lives and finances to
the care of the animals and this facility.
Unfortunately Terry was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010 and went
through a triple bypass surgery in 2012. A farrier by trade, Terry
works for himself and does not have insurance. Terry was recently
treated for an infection with an antibiotic that has wreaked havoc on
his body.
He is currently at LBJ hospital in hospital in ICU with acute
renal failure.
Please support this amazing man and his wife, as they continue
to fight for his health and the well being of RAES. Any funds raised
above and beyond Terry’s medical needs will be contributed directly to RAES.
MORE INFORMATION ON RAES
The RAES facility is located on 52 acres. It is totally natural,
with places to walk, commune with horses, meditate bird watch or gaze
at stars. We frequently have a campfire on chilly nights when all the
chores are done. There is even a large pond where the horses swim.
RAES brings people and horses together for a number of reasons but the
foremost reason is for healing and peace. We strive to form forever
lasting bonds between horses and humans. Most of our horses come out
of bad situations and have constantly been moved around from the time
they are just a few months old. They have been dragged from their
equine and human families and friends repeatedly.
Our horses are not listed as 'adoptable' because we are a
sanctuary and we intend to provide each horse a permanent place in our
population for the rest of their lives. However, we also realize that
horses, like humans, desire a special bond and interaction with a
partner, or mate. Additionally, we recognize that horses thrive when
they have a job and a responsibility. Sometimes those bonds and
opportunities supersede our desire to have them remain at RAES.
Therefore, in some cases, our horses are adopted via a stringent
application process.
