For those of you who don't know, after 20 some years in New Orleans, I moved to Tucson, AZ last year, roughly a year and a half after being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease (aka Rheumatoid Arthritis), Fibromyalgia and other chronic health issues.

I left to avoid hurricane season - which did a number on me physically the year before thanks to my health issues, to try out a less humid climate and to hopefully get access to better medical care.

Aside from avoiding hurricane season, not much else worked out as planned. The drier climate was nullified by increasing health problems, which were not helped by what I can only hope were first year hiccups in the implementation of the Affordable Healthcare Act. About a month ago - after a six and a half month wait, I received my decision from Arizona Medicaid: Denied.

At the same time, life unexpectedly came completely crashing down - leaving me minus most of my earthly belongings and minus a home.

Thanks to the help of the most wonderful friends one could ever ask for, I've managed to keep some kind of a roof over my head since while attempting to extricate myself from Tucson and go back to the swamps of Louisiana, to where I left my heart a year ago, to home.

Finally I have a plan, and aim to be on the road and headed back to New Orleans in a little more than a day - firmly resolved to stand strong, get my health insurance and medical issues under control, and rebuild my life.

I know I have already asked for and been given so much, both financially and emotionally - and for that I am grateful beyond words. If I may ask - hopefully this one last time - if you are able to spare a few dollars to help me cover immediate upcoming costs - the trip home, prescription refills coming up next week and a visit to my old doctor, and other necessities such as food and bus fare while I get things sorted out and back in business, so to speak, I would be so grateful! And I promise, once back on my feet, to pay your kindness forwards. Those who know the "old" Andrea can verify that is no idle promise.

I'll be back with updates - hopefully from New Orleans, in a couple of days!
