Rays Unique Case. -Ray came to U.S. 22 years ago at the age of 14 when the Guerilla army attempted to kidnap him, because his family hid him they wanted to kill him and he fled on foot. -He obtained Asylum and was here legally since 1989-1999 and found out he had a deportation order in 2004 because he failed to notify immigration courts of his move--missing an important court date. -Ray is married to a US born Citizen and has 5 US Citizen children--one whom is disabled with Autism. -Ray owned his own business in the States for 4 years and had employees. -Ray always paid taxes, spoke perfect English and obeyed the laws with the exception of a DUI 12.4 years ago that may prevent him from ever returning. -When Ray was deported in Aug 2011 his family lost their income, business and home and are on partial government assistance in order to survive and now have to pay thousands of dollars just to apply for Ray to come home with no guarantee he will be approved. The difficulty of leaving the country with 5 kids It is not easy to get to Guatemala. I wish we could just pack some bags, get on an airplane and be there. It is actually a very stressful and exhausting ordeal. PASSPORTS: Passports are not easy to obtain when the father of the children is not here to sign consent for them to go. They will not issue my children passports until I get these "statement of consent" papers to Guatemala, Ray signs and has them notarized and send the original copies back here. There is no mail service in his town and he does not know how he will get them back to me as originals. Passport processing is taking 4-6 weeks and if i get them expedited it costs and extra $60 per person. That makes the total cost of passports for me and my children over $1,000! MOVING: I have to move-out of my house before I can go to Guatemala. That is an entire garage, 2 vehicles, a trailer, and atv, 5 beds, washer, dryer, dressers, couch, table, chairs, picnic table, large sand box, lawn mower, 6 bicycles, patio furniture etc. that has to be moved and stored at the price of $100 per month. SUPPLIES: Since I do not know how long we will be in Guatemala I need to buy several months worth of my cosmetics, medication, cloth diapers and other misc. items we need that we can not buy in Guatemala. CASH WHEN WE ARRIVE: When we arrive in Guatemala we will have nothing more than 4 walls to shelter us. We will need to buy many supplies including food, dishes, blankets, pillows, clothing, mattresses, toiletries, etc. I am sure Rays family will help us the best they can but they are very poor and would not have much to offer. PAY FOR TICKETS AND PASSPORTS: Passports will cost $1,020, airline tickets will cost $2,300+ plus cash to travel with for motel, bus, food etc, $500 and we will need to have cash on hand in Guatemala just in case one of us need emergency care(in Guatemala you have to pre-pay for even life-threatening medical care.) In addition I have to put my phone and Internet on hold pack, move, sell and store items change address pay lawyer off find a place to store vehicles get my kids immunizations up-to-date make a list of important #s to leave a family member make colloidal silver get my bad tooth fixed(to avoid problems in Guatemala with no medical care) sell items on Craigslist copy important papers the list goes on and on.......................... I am so overwhelmed, I had to move only 9 months ago when Ray was deported and can not believe I have to do it again. I was unable to move to Guatemala at first because I had to stay here and get Rays paper work done and we thought the process of getting him back would be quicker. Either way in the end it will be worth it because I will again have a husband and my children a father and the heartache we have all been feeling for the past year will finally be gone.
