A Mother Fighting to Save the Health of Her Three Children
My name is Pauly, and I am a mother from Ecuador. Today, I am asking for your kindness because I have reached a point where I can no longer do this alone.
My three children are facing serious medical conditions that require constant treatment, specialized care, medications, and frequent trips to hospitals. Every day is a battle to keep them healthy and safe.
My youngest daughter lives with epilepsy and was recently diagnosed with asthma. She spent almost 20 days in the hospital, and when she was discharged, we discovered that the hospital did not have the epilepsy medication she needs every single day. Missing even one day of treatment could cause dangerous seizures. She also needs lifelong asthma inhalers twice a day, along with medical tests and follow-up appointments.
My 14-year-old son also has asthma and must use inhalers every day for the rest of his life. In addition, he struggles with depression and other health challenges that require ongoing care.
My oldest daughter has lived her entire life with a rare disease called McCune-Albright Syndrome. She has already undergone multiple surgeries and continues to suffer from severe pain, bone problems, keratoconus, and other complications. She still needs specialized examinations and medical treatment.
We must travel frequently to Quito for specialist appointments, medical tests, and therapies. These trips are expensive, and the costs of transportation, food, and medicine continue to grow. We are also waiting for important medical examinations that are not available in our local hospitals.
As if this were not enough, our family is also struggling with debt caused by years of medical expenses. I have done everything I can to provide for my children, but because they require constant care, I cannot work a full-time job. Every dollar I earn goes toward medicine, food, and keeping my children safe.
