We are 84 teachers from 27 Catholic schools in and around Monrovia/Liberia.

Every day, we stand in front of our students with one purpose: to guide them, support them, and open doors to a better future. But teaching in Liberia is not easy.

Many of our classrooms are overcrowded. Many of our students have lived through trauma, hunger, or violence. Learning materials are scarce, and most of us have never received formal training in psychosocial support or trauma -pedagogy.
Yet we show up every morning—because we believe in the children of Liberia.

Why This Training Matters

Through the Empowering Teachers project, 84 of us have been selected to become Master Teachers.
In special, practice-oriented training sessions, we learn how to:

• support children emotionally and psychosocially
• handle conflict in peaceful and constructive ways
• understand trauma and respond with empathy
• use nonviolent communication
• create a safe and respectful classroom climate
• deal with classroom disturbances without punishment
• strengthen our own resilience as educators

We are not only learning for ourselves. We will become multipliers in our schools—sharing what we have learned with our colleagues, guiding them, and supporting them in their daily challenges.

This means:
A little team of three trained Master Teacher at a school strengthens an entire school staff and hundreds of children.

A Network of Strong Teachers

To keep learning from each other, we need to stay connected. But many of us do not own a smartphone, or we share one with family members. Without a phone, we cannot:

• join the digital learning groups
• receive training materials
• exchange ideas with other teachers
• stay in contact with coaches
• participate in follow-up sessions

That is why this crowdfunding project exists.

Each Master Teacher needs a simple, reliable smartphone to stay part of this network of support and continuous learning.
A phone is not a luxury—it is a tool that strengthens an entire school community.

Our Goal

We want to build a new school culture in Liberia—one shaped by:

• mutual respect
• inner strength
• peaceful classrooms
• supportive relationships
• teachers who feel equipped, valued, and confident
• children who feel safe, seen, and encouraged

When teachers grow, children grow.
When children grow, a whole nation grows.
