Seeking Justice for Our Daughter — Help Us Hold the CEPEO School Board Accountable

Dear friends, supporters, and caring community,

We are reaching out during one of the most difficult times of our lives — as parents seeking justice for our 6-year-old daughter, who was subjected to repeated harmful incidents of a sexual nature by other student at École Élementaire Publique Des Sentiers Public School, part of the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO)..

What followed has been every parent’s worst nightmare — not just the initial harm itself, but the last grave harm that cannot be described here and the failure of the systems meant to protect her.

Failed to protect our child.

We brought our concerns to the school’s attention. Despite this, the incidents continued until the breaking point, and we believe the response from both the school and the board was inadequate, dismissive, and deeply harmful to our daughter’s safety and emotional well-being. At no point were meaningful interventions put in place, and our child was left vulnerable in a place that should have been safe.

This is why we’ve moved our child to a different school and filed a complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), case number 2025-59638-I — to pursue accountability and push for the changes needed to protect children in our public schools.

We are raising $25,000 to help cover the legal expenses associated with this tribunal case. These funds will be used to:
• Secure legal representation experienced in human rights and education law
• Pay for expert evaluations and testimony where needed
• Manage court filing and preparation costs
• Raise awareness about the case and the broader issue of school board accountability.

This is not just about our daughter. It’s about creating change so that other families don’t face silence or indifference when their children are harmed. No child should ever feel unsafe at school, and no parent should have to fight so hard to be heard.
