The People's Grocery Program is entering its 7th month, and has generated hundreds of bags of groceries in service of working families, immunocompromised folks, and families in need in New Orleans. Our last community distribution served over 50 bags of groceries to families in and around the 7th Ward. Increasing class conflict, unemployment, pandemic and the heart of hurricane season all loom before our community as challenges to food security for working and poor families. 

Since our program began distributing groceries and hot meals at Stallings Park in 7th Ward, we have become a presence known by our community, and one which is building bonds of trust and solidarity. We cannot drop this ball, and to keep our progress and service high, we rely on the inexhaustible generosity of the masses. Each distribution, we encounter and make connections to volunteers in the community, who are ultimately the heroes of the PGP.

This month we aim to conduct two and maintain a high output for community distributions as well as home deliveries for folks who can't make it out. We are asking for generous donations in solidarity with this program by the people and for the people. We cannot and will not stop serving the people in this time of upheaval and change in the US. We know that mutual aid creates community, community creates solidarity, solidarity creates struggle, and what is needed now more than ever is struggle by and for the working and oppressed people of this city to band together and struggle for self-determination.
