Mary Thompson hasn't added a story.
Only a few people know their way around buying and selling their jewelries, most of those who do actually consider it their career. It's impressive how easy it is for them to determine the value of certain jewelries and precious stones just by looking at them for a few minutes. And what's even more impressive is that even though the appraisals are technically arbitrary, appraisals from different sources are typically at the same range.
For the regular person who simply wishes to sell their blue diamond , or perhaps an engagement ring encrusted with a precious stone, selling is difficult. Buying is somewhat out of the question since they don't trade these trinkets for a living. It's quite common for people who are clueless about selling to resort to searching the world wide web with phrases like "I want to sell my Blue Nile ring." and the like.
Assuming they don't end up selling to a scam site, they might still end up with buyers that are going to exploit their being clueless. Not even changing the search phrase to "I want to sell my Blue Nile engagement ring for a fair price ." is going to help. To avoid selling rings to scam sites or selling them cheaply, here are some of the most preferred selling options by those who do know their way around trading jewelries.
· Friends
The advantage of selling to friends is that they may just feel obligated to buy. Of course, that sounds like a really underhanded way to take advantage of a friendship. But unless the seller has an intention to swindle their friend, then it's perfectly fine. But this method of selling has two obvious drawbacks. One is that the price may not be as high as one would expect. Haggling can drastically lower the value of the item. The pressure of agreeing to their price because of the existing amicable relationship is also an elephant in the room that will drive the price low. Another problem with selling to friends is that both parties may not actually know how to give an item a proper appraisal. Also, selling an engagement ring to a friend just might raise some questions.
· Online Diamond Buyers.
One way of selling diamonds that's becoming more and more prevalent is selling to companies based on the Internet. The advantage of this selling method is that it's extremely convenient. The seller only has to mail the item, wait for the company to appraise it and then agree on the price. If the price isn't acceptable then they'd simply return the item. In addition to convenience, this method of selling also has the benefit of anonymity. The obvious downside to this is that there are a lot of sites who claim to be legitimate buyers, but are simply awaiting for victims. To avoid this, it's best to learn more about the company in question. There is likely to be at least one message board or review site that can provide comprehensive information about the legitimacy of the company.
