I am Adrienne Burick trying to help my dad - Jeffrey Pardus. Briefly, in 1991 he was stopped for a red light in a line of traffic, and was hit from the rear. Long story short, it was 9 ears, with a court order, before he could have the seven surgeries he needed on his neck, back and shoulders in 2000 and 2001- the insurance companies gave him the runaround for a long time. While he was recovering from the last surgery, mom filed for a divorce. It looked like he was going to recover well enough to go back to work, but in 2006 he had a bad heart attack, and has permanent heart damage.
I know he has helped hundreds by volunteering for many organizations, but also would help anyone he could that was having problems of many kinds, asking only a donation from them (whatever they could afford to help pay for the parts), or even do the work for free. Jeff did anything from doing major car repairs, to major roof repairs, and gave (yes, gave the furnace and materials for free) a widow with 3 children a new furnace to heat their home, and installed the furnace and air duct it needed - that alone would have been more than $6000 for a company to install it (he was a professional heating and air conditioning mechanic), but he did it for free because she just didn't have the money and it was mid November without any heat in the house.
Give someone the shirt off his back?? - he literally has. While going from jobsite to jobsite, he saw many crashes happen, or arrived just after they happened, and gave his shirts and jackets to keep people warm that were going into shock, keep them warm when it was cold, or to stop the bleeding. He did emergency first aide, and I know at least two people died in his arms - literally. He has done so much for others, and asks for little or nothing. Jeff is just the kind of guy that doesn't ask for help, so I am asking for him.
Jeff has been talking to many people in many countries for a long time, and has been talking to Liana for two years almost every day with live video and audio on Skype. Problem is that she lives in Kazakhstan. I would like for them to spend time together to know if they do have that kind of love for each other that they would want to be married. Why Kazakhstan?? Dad knows people from all over the world for research projects, and Pittsburgh region has people from all over the world, and he simply has done work for them or with them, for decades. Few that know him don't like him; he is just a nice, easy going, friendly guy. While talking to his friends on a website, Dad and Liana started talking and one thing lead to another. It just happens that they are literally half a world apart. They have some money saved, but it would be many years to raise all the money for the flight and travel expenses. I really would like to give them a surprise gift so they can meet this summer!! Liana is Christian, and they have many of the same beliefs and family values - family values seems to be something many single women his age range (40's-50's) in the states no longer have a desire for that he wants.
How can anyone show or say enough to show gratitude for bringing two great people together that deserve to be together?? I know there are thousands of stories out there, but if anyone deserves to have "pay-it-forward" as paid-in-return for all that he has done for so many, Dad - Jeff - does. A long time ago I have heard dad say to some people he has helped, that all he asks is for them to help someone that needs help, and that was enough gratitude or payment he asked for. Jeff was doing the "Pay-It-Forward" long before Hollywood decided to make the movie. Your help will be very much appreciated. Anything over the $3200 (after fees and taxes) will go specifically for future flights and fees needed for them to become a family of three (Liana has a 6 year old daughter) - I am that confident of their relationship. Of the $6000, about $600 to $800 (maybe more) will go for site fees, and about $2150 in taxes, so that only leaves $3200 in actual funds. I wish there were an easier and better way to get the funds dad needs. Please donate, and ask others to donate also!!!! Also, please leave a comment, especially if you know him personally.
Thanks for reading this.
