Samantha Lee hasn't added a story.

My family runs a no kill cat shelter.  In 2011 I filed a tort claim against our local animal control in which I named several "officials"  for violations that occured against my family in 2010.   On November 17, 2011 we were raided.  Oddly enough the only "officials"  that were part of the raid, were the ones named in this tort claim.  The raid came surprisingly after I helped a woman the day before with "feral" cats, only come to find out she lied to me and the organization that asked me to help her prevent her from losing her home.  That part is confusing, however the part of the animal control facility killing my cats to get charges against my husband and me are not..

Let me explain...  I had a cat that had an upper respiratory infection, something that is common in cat rescue.  Just 10 days before the raid I had taken in 4 baby feral kittens.  They were in quarantine.  Kenya, the sick cat was the only cat that had any symtoms of a URI and it went from being fine one day to slight mouth breathing the next.  I took her to the vet to have her checked out.  The vet ran several test on her, sent her home on Clavamox (an antibiotic) and was to call me the following day or day after that.  Kenya then went into a full blown URI, goopy eyes, runny nose, not wanting to eat, etc.  Kenya too was quarantined.  2 days after having Kenya at the vet the vet called me.  She asked how she was doing I told her I didn't feel she bounced back fast enough so she wanted to put Kenya on another antibiotic with her Clavamox.  I then asked the vet what should I do with the other cats, I know the URI will spread as my cat and another rescue cat started with symptoms of beginning to come down with the URI, and I asked her if she could give me a bottle of Clavamox for those 2 cats so it didn't get worse.  She told me legally she could not do that but that she could give me a refill for Kenya and ok me to give that to those cats and any cat that also started with symptoms.  She also suggested I buy L Lysine but she was out but could order it.  So I ordered it.  So you see I provided veterinary care.  Not to mention, I had 2 cats at the vet the week before, 1 for surgery, 1 for an exam, which in fact provides conflicting statements between my vet and the animal controls vet on those 2 animals that were seen.

Not to ramble on, let me explain the charges...I was charged for the deaths of a kitten, my sons 2 cats and an adoption cat.  However, the animal control officer testified he did not provide any of my medications to the cats.  The kitten had an upper respiratory infection.  The animal control vet prescribed a medication in place of mine for all the cats with signs of a URI.  The vet testified that the ACO did not pick up the medication until 5 days later.  This was in fact the day AFTER the state vet examined the animals.  So the kitten died on November 26, 2011, she was taken from me on November 17, 2011.  She was not provided a drop of any antibitotic for her URI until November 22, 2011.  But yet I was not only charged with her death, I was convicted as well.  Then on November 28, 2011, my sons cat Sagwa had a seizure.  It is noted that the "tech" watched her seize.  She was advised by the vet and the ACO if Sagwa continued to seizue for 30 minutes to euthanize her.  Yep, they talked to the vet, the vet was less than 10 minutes away, had Sagwa been given an injection of valium she probably would had stopped seizing.  But no they chose to kill her, charge me, and yep I was convicted of her death.  Then Garfield got really, really sick in their care.  He was fine here, but he got so sick, he had blood tinged pus coming out of his mouth, labored breathing, etc, instead of putting him in the hospital, they euthanized him on November 29, 2011, charge me, and yes, I was convicted of his death too.  The biggest kicker to this whole this is Abbigayle.  She died on December 14, 2011 after being starved to death for 8 days, the "tech" knowing she was cold to the touch which meant she was dying, again, instead of being hospitalized they allowed her to die.  I was charged and convicted of her death, 27 days AFTER they took her from me.  Now this isn't what I'm saying happened, this is what they said happened.  This was read as testimony against me, to claim I did this to these cats.  These charges and convictions were on both me and my husband.  We are innocent, our animals would  never had laid in a cage dying in our care period!

I went to prison for child neglect of a 14  and 17 year old.  All because my basement flooded.  The prosecutor is trying to play off that the dried sludge on my kitchen floor in between the basement door and the back door was cat feces.  He went on saying how my house was corner to corner feces covered.  Then proceeded to say there is no such word as sludge.  Anyone can look at the basement pix and see the sludge.  I admit and I always have that my house was a mess.  I had 2 options, live in a clean house with my 19 year old son living in a flooded bedroom or I could live in controlled chaos for a little bit while we move him to the living room all while trying to salvage personal belongings of 5 people.  The prosecutor and parties against us want to blame the messy house on the cats.  Well the cats did not flood the basement.  They want to believe that dishes in the sick that were there a day and a half were there for weeks or months.  CPS told us because we had halloween dishes in the sink therefore they had been in the sink since October, remember, this was November 17th.

You see, there is so much to my story, more than you probably want to read.  This is the gest, the full story can be read here.

So why do we nee your help? We need your help because were wrongfully convicted, to set the story straight and to hire an attorney that is going to do their job in fixing this.  7 animals lost their lives while we spent over $10,000 trying to save them.  Now in order to hopefully get this wrongful conviction turned around we need $23,000 to pay a private attorney.  IF we get this done then we can go after them for the murders of Pumpkin, Sagwa, Garfield, Abbigayle, who are the ones they murdered to get charges against us, then Izzie, Zim and Kilter the ones that died in animal controls care, the abuse they endured and the mental abuse my children endured.

Please learn the true facts of what happened.  I cannot yet say who the attorney is, however, I will ask the attorney once I can if they will accept called in donations.  Once the attorney says I can show where the money has gone I will post whatever they give me here to prove this fundraiser is for legal expenses regarding the animals and our wrongful convictions.  I have nothing to hide, now or then.  I can probably give you a phone number to my public defender and he can verify that this is in fact legitimate.

I pray you will help us out, even if it is $1, every cent adds up.  And if you don't want to donate, we have an auction on Facebook, all the funds from it also go to hiring this private attorney.  We must make 2015 the year we take back control and get justice for the wrongs my family and animals have endured.

Thank you very much for taking the time for reading this and thank you in advance if you do donate and or share.

Sincerely,

Samantha
