Marleys Mutts hasn't added a story.
"I found her in in my front yard emaciated and limping and my
neighbor helped me catch her because she is fast! Animal Control was
there looking for her. They checked for a chip and I told them I would
keep her because I know with an injury she would not last long, that I
would be keeping her.
I took her to the vet the next day and got
her shots, deworming powder and Frontline. She should be 3-5 years
old, seems to be over bred. She was just seen by a surgeon and she
believes the best thing for her is amputation because she gets around
so well now. Doing the other procedure where they try to reattach the
ACL, has no 100% chance of it working and very expensive. So I feel
the best way to get Gracie back on track the fastest, this will be the
best thing for her since she still doesn't have a lot weighing her
down right now.
So her big surgery day will be July 17th! She will get a free
spay (since she's a pit bull from the SPCA), her amputation,
micro-chipped and the last few shots she needs to be caught up for her
new start!
I wanted to find a rescue group that will take her because I
know that would be the best thing for a pittie with an injury. I just
haven't had much response from the rescues and so thankful that
Marley's Mutts is going to help! I know she will make someone very
happy to be in their family and her appreciate them, as much as I can
tell she is thankful for me saving her.
A bit about Gracie. She
loves all the affection you can give her! So she would be awesome for
someone without any other animals and lives alone and wants to shower
a girl with love. I also think she'd be great with a couple with 1-2
smaller dogs and/or older children. It just needs to be a family with
lots of love to give. I don't think she'd do well with a cat in the
family, she just wants to chase them.
Gracie is really smart and
can jump a 4 foot fence, even with an injury. She gets spooked a bit
when on walks, when other dogs bark at her. I think this is from her
being on the streets so long. So I always have to be alert and keep
her close just incase and I just talk to her to calm her and she's ok.
She also likes to do a more brisk walk because of her injury but
really loves to still run anyway. She still gets excited and wants to
play fetch, tug of war and play chase.
She is so docile and
polite. She knows how to "sit", "come" and
"no". She actually will lay down when she sees the leash
come out but she's always still excited to go on her walks. Most of
all, she loves her tummy rubbed and to cuddle any chance get. Her
favorite place is her bed, she seems like she feels so safe in it."
