Hi everyone, My name is Drew Daniel and I was born without my left hand. I'm currently 18 years old and working full time. Throughout my life I've had multiple prosthetics. I currently have a myo-electric hand which I can perform basic tasks with however, I'll be honest with you, it's not very useful. Personally the only thing I can think of that I find it useful for is tying shoe laces. The reason why? Because it only has one grip pattern "the pinch grip".

The reason i'm writing this is because I'm asking for your help. I have found a new prosthetic hand that I believe will tremendously change my life for the better. It's called the Bebionic 3 and it's the most advanced prosthetic hand available on the market at the moment. It has 16 grip patterns as opposed to just one and its also extremely light weight. It can do almost everything a real hand would do and looks amazing too!

In the past I have been fortunate enough to recieve funding from The War Amps which is a non-profit organization. However, The problem I've encountered in trying to get this new prosthetic hand is that it's simply too expensive and no one wants to fund it. The cost of the Hand by itself is $22,000 and a new socket costs $6000 for a total of $28,000.

The reason why this new prosthetic hand is so expensive is becasue its fairly new and not many people have them yet. The same thing happend when Myo-Electric hands were first introduced 25 years ago. They were extremely pricey and impractical to own. A couple hundred fittings and a few years later though, they became affordable and that became the new standard of prosthetic hands. If I am able to reach my goal and obtain this new hand it wont just benefit me it will also benefit other amputees as well. It would certainly help get the ball rolling (in Canada at least) and help set a new standard of prosthetic limbs.

I have always wondered what life would be like with a second functional hand. Unfortunately at the current rate this is going, it will take about a decade for the price of this limb to become affordable for me. However, with the help of each and everyone of you who donates I'm hoping I can make my dreams a reality and be able to live a normal and happy life. Thats what I've always wanted.
