Imagine running for your life as the only home you’ve ever known disappears in flames.🔥

Indonesia’s rainforests are among the world’s richest ecosystems, yet deforestation, agricultural expansion, and devastating wildfires are destroying orangutan habitats at an alarming rate. Fires destroy food sources, displace wildlife, and expose orangutans to severe burns, smoke inhalation, starvation, and deadly encounters with humans. Habitat fragmentation further threatens their survival by isolating populations and disrupting breeding. Through our partnership with YIARI, Wild at Life supports vital rescue and rehabilitation efforts, giving orangutans a second chance at life. But rescue alone cannot solve this crisis. We must protect the forests they call home. 🌿🦧 Please support our mission—every contribution helps turn devastation into hope.

In the past 8 weeks our partners on the ground YIARI has now rescued over 53 orangutans (October) from the affect of smoke inhalation, habitat destruction, fires and human-animal conflict.   This is unprecedented in the recent times and is putting severe strain on the team who are working around the clock on orangutan rescues, fire fighting, fire monitoring, orangutan translocations etc.

For Indonesia’s orangutans, this is a devastating reality. Wildfires destroy their forest homes, leaving them frightened, injured, and fighting to survive. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our partners at IAR, 53 orangutans have been rescued to date . At Wild at Life, we believe that strong partnerships are the heart of conservation—but our partners cannot do this alone.

Many of these orangutans have been given refuge at the orangutan rescue center in West Borneo but as you can imagine this is placing an incredible strain on this facility.  Usually, as they are often adult orangutans, we would take the animals to another part of the forest to release them back into the wild but due to fire raging across West Borneo this is not currently an option!

In western Indonesia, precious rainforests are being destroyed, leaving orangutans homeless, injured, and fighting for survival. 💔 As their world disappears, our partners at YIARI work tirelessly to rescue and care for orangutans whose lives have been devastated by habitat destruction. At Wild at Life , we stand beside them, supporting their vital mission because every life saved is a reason to keep fighting. But we cannot do it alone. Please stand with us. Your donation can help rescue an orangutan, protect a life, and give hope to a species losing its home. 🌿🦧
