Who Is Cayce?
Cayce is one of the kindest and most generous, community-minded people you will ever meet. She volunteers hundreds of hours of her time every year to support trans community-building, trans joy and trans rights.
For years now, she has had a dream of
looking into the mirror and seeing a face that looks like her. One
that makes sense to her. One that feels like home. And the time has
come for us to make that happen for her by helping her to raise
funds for facial feminization surgery.
What Is Facial Feminization Surgery?
Facial feminization surgery is gender-affirming surgery that reverses some of the facial effects of going through the wrong puberty, including broadening of the jaw, thickening of the browbone and orbital bones and shape of the chin. It's designed to reveal the face that would have been hers if it had not been so heavily influenced by a testosterone-based puberty.
Why Does Cayce Need This Surgery?
Every morning, Cayce wakes up, looks in the mirror, and sees the face of a stranger looking back at her. Not a stranger in the sense of unfamiliarity. A stranger because what she sees is so clearly not her. Because of this stranger she sees, she brushes her teeth facing away from the mirror, brushes her hair facing away from the mirror, avoids looking at herself on the way to the shower and back. Avoids having her picture taken. Some days, she cancels plans because she's unable to leave the house knowing people will see her face and see her wrong.
Why Should You Support This Surgery Fund?
Gender affirming surgery is life-saving surgery. Cayce worked hard to retrain for a career with an employer that offers gender-affirming surgical coverage. She has pre-approval from her insurance to get $60,000 CAD of her surgical costs covered, but that still leaves $18,000 CAD to pay out of pocket.
We Have THREE Fundraising Goals to Hit:
- Raise the first $5,000 as a down payment to book Cayce's surgical date
- Raise the next $10,000 to cover all out-of-pocket procedural costs
- Raise the last $3,000 for travel expenses and to replace the income that Cayce's wife will not be able to earn (as a freelancer) while she cares for Cayce during her recovery

- What considerations you'd like to make for what happens to your body, funeral and memorials etc.
