Who I Am & My Mission

My name is Deborah Simmonds, a mother of two children and a wife. I am embarking on a life-changing journey to answer a divine call to pastoral ministry, for the Lord has called me, and I believe I have a story to tell of His goodness and how He has delivered me from a broken home and a broken life.

After years of working as a hairdresser, I’ve realized that my true purpose isn't just serving people in a salon but leading and ministering to them in the Kingdom of God. I am raising funds to complete my foundational education and to enroll at Bethel Bible College of the Caribbean—Jamaica to pursue a degree in theology with a minor in counseling. I was allowed to enroll in their 2024 certificate program, which I completed and graduated from in February 2026.

My Current Situation

For a long time, I struggled to establish my hairdressing business.Despite my best efforts, it never fully took root. I now know that the failure was a sign that I should give up that path and follow my calling. However, to officially enroll in the Bachelor of Theology program at Bethel, I must first obtain four subjects that I was unable to complete over the years due to financial instability and neglect. However, by faith, I am currently preparing to attend CSEC classes while managing the transition from being a hairdresser to a full-time student.

Why This Is Important to Me

Answering this call is not just a career change; it is an act of obedience. My heart is dedicated to leadership and serving my community in Jamaica and nationwide, and completing these CSEC subjects is the significant challenge I must overcome to obtain the formal training in theology necessary to become an effective minister of the Gospel.

The funding will be used for:

• CSEC Tuition & Exam Fees: Costs for the four required subjects.
• Study Materials: Textbooks and resources for exam prep.
• Initial Bethel Application & Deposit: Securing my spot for the upcoming year.
• Basic Living Support: Assisting me in transitioning from my hairdressing income to full-time studies.
