Imagine waking up one day to discover that a big part of your hard-earned savings has vanished in an instant. That’s exactly what happened to me, and I’m sharing my story not only to seek help but also to warn others.
It all started when I received an SMS that appeared to be from Binance. The message stated that there had been an unauthorized login attempt from the Netherlands. If the login wasn’t from me, I was instructed to call them immediately. Because the message was part of an existing thread where I had received previous 2FA codes from Binance, I believed it was legitimate and decided to follow their instructions.
I called the number provided in the message, and the person on the other end told me that I needed to set up a new Trust Wallet to protect my assets from potential theft. They also mentioned that I would soon receive a text message from them with a seed phrase, which I would need to enter to complete the setup. They specifically instructed me not to read the seed phrase out loud, but only to write it down. At the time, I didn’t realize that this was the crucial mistake..
Unfortunately, once I transferred my funds, they were immediately stolen. The scammers then became unreachable, and my entire balance was gone. The phone number I had called was no longer in service, and I was left feeling completely helpless.
I honestly feel really stupid and foolish for falling for this. The scammers were very clever in how they set everything up. From the beginning, they assured me that they would never ask for any personal information, which made me feel safe. They also told me that I could verify the legitimacy of the number they contacted me from by comparing it to the number I’ve received my 2FA codes from in the past. This made it feel even more trustworthy, as it seemed like a legitimate source.
They never asked for any personal details, and I never gave them any, but despite that, I was still tricked. They made everything seem so official and legitimate that I didn’t stop to question anything. In hindsight, I see how well they had planned everything. It’s really hard for me to accept how easily I was deceived, especially when I thought I was being cautious. I feel incredibly dumb for not recognizing the red flags earlier.
Now, I find myself in a really difficult position and don’t know what to do. Normally, I would never ask for help like this, but in my desperation, I’m reaching out to you. If anyone is willing to send even a small donation, it would mean the world to me and help me get back on my feet.
