Linda was rescued in july 2020 from the terrible wildfires in Cyprus.
She was found tight on a tree in her owner's yard sarounded by the
fires. Linda and her owner were in a great shock. We were a team of
volunteers who tried to help both Linda and her owner.
I offered
a safe place in kennels for Linda until her owner recovers from shock
and fix the fence which was destroyed from the fires and she agreed to
it. One day I received a phone call from Linda's owner asking me with
heavy heart to rehome Linda as it was impossible for her to keep her
safe.
And so I agreed to it and I started ever since looking for
a new home for Linda.
Unfortunately despite my efforts Linda is
still In kennels. I tried to rehome her through couple other
organisations but due to the fact Linda is reactive to other dogs it
makes things complicated. Linda is an absolute amazing dog , but in
order to help her with her fear reaction and find a home I had to ask
for help from a dog trainer. For the last 2ish months we follow
positive training which I pay from my salary and the progress Linda
does is amazing. She is such a smart dog and I am so positive that she
will have her happy ending with a family of her own. It breaks my
heart to see her in a cage for the last two years but unfortunately
that's the only safe place I can provide to her and I could never
manage alone all this time without your great support towards her and
for this I am so grateful.
On the other hand, Leonidas appeared at my veranda when he was about 1-2 months old. We could never get any near him as he would run away very fast. After some time I noticed that Leonida's tail was infected as it was full of poo and dirt on his back. It was completely a mess and he had to go at vet as soon as possible. So we managed to trap him with my mum and I took him at vet where two vets could not manage hold him or do anything to him. He was hissing and jumping up, it was a catastrophe! So vet gave me antibiotics and treatment for warms to put in his food. The amount of warms that came out from him will hunt me forever!! I have never seen such thing before and only God knows how much he suffered all that time. I fostered Leonidas since his rescue which was October of 2022 in a crate at my home and the plan was to release him once he was strong and healthy. Unfortunately it took little longer for him to heal and the more he stayed under my care the more it was getting difficult to let him back out to the streets. So I decided that he deserved a chance like the other kittens that I fostered at same time and when they all grew bigger i took them in cattery. All the others are now in loving forever homes but not Leonidas. The problem with Leonidas is that until now he is not easy to approach as he is so scared although he seems to need some human affection. Currently I try to trap him so that I can take him for neutering and vaccines and I try to find solutions to help him. I will give him some more time until he can be in a loving home where he can have time to adjust and eventually develop trust for humans.
Unfortunately kennels and cattery is the only place I can keep these
two safe and to manage do this I need your support 🙏. I know its hard
times for everyone and honestly I hate asking for financial help, but
I hope and I believe that if many people donate a little bit, it would
get us to our target of keeping Linda and Leonidas safe. Shares can
help a lot as well so please let's share as much as
possible.
Until they find a family of their own, they only have
us to help them.
