Hello Everyone...
Out of options and in need of help.
I am not entirely sure where to start off but ill start with a few major medical events that our family has endoured over the past three + years!
So I will start off December of 2019 when our daughter was bed ridden for three weeks with what we thought was just a common cold. We later discovered along with the rest of the world about covid-19 pandemic. Just before the Christmas of 2019. New Year of 2020 when her elementry school called home saying that our daughter was very pale very shaky and should seek urgent medical attention. She was brought immediatley back into emergency. At this point they run blood test and did further screening and there was all of a sudden an urgent medical discovery. Our daughter needed a blood transfusion as her little body was shutting down and about to go into cardiac arrest. We soon found that she had an allergic reaction to something which resulted in near fatal results. We rushed her to Vancouver Childrens Hospital which is one of the best hospitals out there! We were admitted there for months at a time. The GI team did numerous testing, graphs, scopes, ultra sounds, biopsys day in and day out. Fast forward 2021 she has been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis Disease with no cure and at Mayo stage 3, Extreme internal bleeding and deteriating colon. During the time of waiting for her diagnois my husband lost his job as he was trying to work from the hospital. We flew our mother inlaw in from Ontario to help provide the care that we needed for our son that was at home with out the comfort of his parents or sister . We have been doing everything that we can to stay ahead but like most, have been severeley set back by the pandemic. Our daughter is currently and will be continuing with her chemotherapy treatments every three weeks for the forseeable future as directed by her GI team. The type of Chemo Treament is for cell regeneration and to stop the deteriation of her colon and intestines. B.C. medical doesn't cover the full $4200.00 in medical expenses as her condition isn't considered cancer so we have to find the difference of the money and apply for government grants to pay for the infusions and monthly prescription bills of medicine not fully covered. We have the basic coverage but just isn't enough. We have sold off every asset including our own personal vehicles and taking transit to make ends meet with rent utilities food etc. Our current landlords have failed to provide with up to code safe healthy living conditions. We have gone to the tenancy board, filed for disputes (won these hearings with arbitration), rent reduction, knowing that the order of possession is near. We have filed for financial medical hardship at this time. However it seems to be that trying to catch up stay a float and get a head just makes things worse. As a result of this stress have ended up with highblood pressure at alarming rates that put me(DAD) in the hospital myself. I had surgery on my gallbladder recently. The healing process turned out to limitations and more surgeries with me not being able to go to work as I had swollen abdomen and bleeding that turned into infections, then month later had an extreme embilical hernia from poor healing from initial sugery and mesh rejected from my body and caused extreme pain and further complications and 4 months off work at same time as still frequently having to make trip to hospital for our daughter and 5 months off work off and on and working from home due to having to be a the hospital for our daughter frequently and current combined health conditions. Keep in mind our son is still at home and he obviously needs parenting..comfort, laundry, meals , help with school work, getting to his check up appointments.
We were too embarresed to ever get help or manage everything, we just kept thinking we could catch up. Were in Debt 10K Plus, and need 4 k on top of the addition 1700 we have left this week to our name to find a place to live or be able to move or pay and stay if its not too late to stop order of possession..We have anxiety so bad everyday and the kids are afraid to be here and be embarrased if someone comes and take our things away and forces us out. We have tried to negotiate cathing up and we work extra shifts. We were denied and told to move immediately. For any friends or family shocked to read this and didnt know everything going on it was becasue im sure everyone has there own things happening, we didnt want to bother anyone and thought we could do it all on our own. But now, our kids and us are out of options.
Current Family Update, kiddo back to school feeling good, and trying to stay positive, but still going to regular ongoing I.V treatments as a regular day unit out patient, DAD finally able to be back at work as of two weeks ago and will start getting steady pay again, but so far behind , WE are being focred out of our place an have no options to go to. There is a court order notice of possetion filed to take over home and all items in it by a court bailiff and help in storageuntil paid in full for 2-3 month we fell behind due to unforseen circumstances. and fees for movers they use to pack you things up and force you out. We cannot go through anymore stress or both parents and kids are near mental breakdown. We were paying portions monthly to just keep a place to live. Now the delay has caught up and even though thing are getting better and back to work, we cant get out of this situation on our own, its built up for three years and left us far behind and out of options. We were too embarrased and never mentioned to anyone how bad things were getting and how much stress this was putting on us and our kids. Stress also directly effect daughter current conditon and as parent were no good if we lose it or fall apart.
We are reaching out to our families, friends, and community resources to help. If you have taken the time to read what we have been going through please message either one of us so we can talk to you personally and let you know how appreciative that we are for your donations and contributions during these difficult times.
If you can please donate it's appreciated so much,
If you can loan, and or have other ideas to help. All ideas welcome. We thank you so much. Bless you all.
This is an urgent matter.
We also ask that if you know the family or the kids. Dont share with young kids or teens in the area or contact them directly about this post Its depressing and not motivating for them. Other peers of young teens are mean at times and we dont want our kids to have things get any harder for them. I want them to forget the last few years and move forward positively as possible..
On a special note.
If your ever at a store and they ask if you want to donate to BC childrens hospital. Kids need this and it all counts. Staff and doctors and treatment is top class there, they hold a huge important roll in our childs life and many other children struggling with less than perfect health.
Bless you all.
Thanks for Caring!
