Hi.

My name is Valentine. I'm 20, and I lived in Kharkiv, Ukraine. I had to escape from there because the war started.

Let me tell you my story.
I moved from my parents to there in July, 2021. I had a happy life there, I had a large company of my friends, a good job, and a lot of opportunities.
But at one morning at 5 AM, I was woken up by explosions outside of my window. It was February 24th, 2022. I ran into my bathroom, because it was the safest room in my small rented apartment. I grabbed my phone and I called my mom. The first thing I said was “We're being shelled”...

After a few minutes after it stopped I grabbed my old laptop and went to a bomb shelter. I started broadcasting on youtube about what's going on here. Everyone was in shock. Nobody expected this to happen.

That night my city was shelled a lot of times. And they didn't stopped at the morning. I had to sleep at the bomb shelter.

The shelling didn't stopped for a week or so. I “celebrated” my second anniversary at the bomb shelter, listening to my radio and to the shelling outside. And when they stopped shelling for a few days, my friend told me that she's going to evacuate from there. She said that I can bring a backpack and a small bag of something that I really need. I had to leave everything there. My PC, my clothes, everything... There was 5 persons in a small car (including me), so we were short on space. We barely fit together, but after 5 days of traveling we managed to get to the Chernivtsi, the safest place in Ukraine. My mom let my friends into her house that she rents out to others, and I had to stay at my mom's.

I'm currently volunteering: I'm fixing electronics for free, helping others found a safe place in Ukraine or abroad.

The reason why I started this campaign is that I was working as a freelance web developer, and I really enjoy video editing. I had to leave my desktop PC at Kharkiv, and I brought my old laptop with me. It's not really powerful, it crashed a lot, the only thing it runs is windows 7, and it's maxed out on what I can upgrade in it.
It was great for the purpose at the time (remote access, web browsing and light coding), but right now I'm having troubles when I'm using it.

I'm not going to lie to you, that I need a laptop just for work, no. I do, sometimes, play video games, as everyone does. And this laptop is just suffering when I'm using it for that. It's just old.

And due to a war that's going on in Ukraine – I can't finance it, unfortunately. Banks are not allowing it.
