HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion in North America - Film
HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion in North America is our new film project based upon our book HOODOO PEOPLE: Afurakanu/Afuraitkaitnut (Africans) in North America - Akan Custodians of Hoodoo from Ancient Hoodoo/Udunu Land (Khanit/Nubia).
Shooting for this film is underway. HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion is the second film in our series, the first being AMARUKAFO ADEBISA - African American Ancestral Divination:
www.odwirafo.com/Amarukafo_Adebisa.html
Since we released our first film, we became an official selection for the Pembroke Taparelli Arts and Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA and the Kwanzaa Film Festival in New York. We were invited to speak on a panel on Ancestral Religion in Los Angeles and won the award for Best Original Documentary in New York in January, 13020 (2020).
In AMARUKAFO ADEBISA we introduced forms of divination preserved in North America within our Ancestral Religions of Hoodoo (Akan), Juju (Yoruba), Wanga (Ovambo - Gullah), Ngengang (Fang) and Voodoo (Ewe).
In our new film project HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion in North America we are examining the Hoodoo tradition in particular. Our Akan Ancestresses and Ancestors preserved our Ancestral Religion after having been forced to migrate to the western hemisphere 300 years ago during the Mmusuo Kese (Great Perversity/Enslavement era). Our film is based upon our book - HOODOO PEOPLE: Afurakanu/Afuraitkaitnut (Africans) in North America - Akan Custodians of Hoodoo from Ancient Hoodoo/Udunu Land (Khanit/Nubia):
In this book we trace the origins of Akan people and Akan languge, culture, cosmology and ritual practices to ancient Khanit (Nubia) through West Afuraka/Afuraitkait (Africa) to North America.
In this film we will examine the origins of the false religions and fictional characters including jesus/yeshua and christianity, muhammad/allah and islam, abraham, isaac, ishmael, moses and hebrewism/judaism, buddha and buddhism and more. Our book KUKUU-TUNTUM The Ancestral Jurisdiction details how these characters were manufactured by the whites and their offspring for political purposes. We will showcase this information in the film.
We will also examine the nature and function of the Akofo, Warriors and Warrioresses, who used Hoodoo, inclusive of Rootwork, to wage war physically and through chemical and biological warfare, against the whites and their offspring to force the end of enslavement in North America. This includes those who were actually Akan - Okofo Yaw (Nat Turner), Okofo Kwabena (Denmark Vesey), Nana Abenaa Araminta (Harriet Tubman), Nana Nyamma (High John the Conqueror).
We are traveling to various seats of Hoodoo in North America including Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Chicago, Virginia, Florida and California to film. This includes an examination of Maroon societies in North America - independent Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Nations founded by our people who freed themselves from enslavement through warfare.
Information we introduced in our first film will be examined in detail in our second film.
Featured in the film will be: Amma Asaase Agyei, Afia Nkoso Bretuo and Odwirafo Kwesi Ra Nehem Ptah Akhan.
For those who appreciated the first film, you will be very excited about the second film. It takes the information to the next level including language, etymology, cosmology, ritual practice and more which is characteristic of our books and broadcasts that many are familiar with.
In connection with this new film we will be hosting our very own annual film festival: KANKYE - Conjure Film Festival which will take place on November 7, 2020. Our new film will be one of the features films screened at our festival.
More details coming soon on this new endeavor..
Because of the nationwide quarantine we had to pause on filming. We will return to filming later this month and into May and June. We then plan to move into post production so that the film will be ready in time for our film festival
Contribute to our crowdfund today and your receipt for your contribution is also your ticket to attend our screening of our film HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion in North America in your city once released. We can only get the film completed with your assistance.

See all activity47Update on HOODOO Film: Mikyia mo (Greetings).. We just updated our page regarding our second film project: HOODOO: Akan Ancestral Religion in North America. The attached video which is a trailer for our ODUMAFO ANATO: Pedigree of the Diviner in the Hoodoo Tradition includes aspects of various topics that will be covered in the film and much more. Because of the nationwide quarantine we had to pause on filming. We initially paused a few months ago as we attended film festivals, won an award for Best Original Documentary for our first film and laid the foundation for our first annual film festival KANKYE - Conjure Film Festival. Our film festival will take place on November 7th in Washington, DC. We had planned to begin filming again in February/March. However, we are on hold until the end of this month. We are making plans for travel now for the end of April and into May and June to complete the filming. We will then go into the post production phase so the film will be ready for our festival in the fall. We are also working to inform other filmmakers to submit there films. Because of our award-winning effort on the first film the way is open for larger audiences for this film, especially since the screening will be at our own festival. We appreciate your contribution to our efforts to complete this film. Yeda ase.. HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion in North America Film - Crowdfund www.fundrazr.com/Hoodoo_Akan_Film Odwirafo

Mikyia mo (Greetings).. We received a communication from the Kwanzaa Film Festival in New York this week that they are interested in screening our film. Their festival takes place during the week of Kwanzaa this year. This is the second film festival that we submitted our work to and the second acceptance. The first one being the Pembroke Taparelli Film Festival which is actually this week in Los Angeles, CA. As mentioned previously our acceptance is significant in the sense that AMARUKAFO ADEBISA: African-American Ancestral Divination in our first film. There are seasoned filmmakers whose films were not chosen while ours was. We are submitting our film to a number of additional film festivals around the country and some outside of the country in the effort to get our film in more theaters. We have more leverage now as many film festivals assess acceptance criteria based upon if the film has been accepted at other festivals. Thus if a film festival receives 500 films and only has 80 openings, they will be more inclined to give consideration to a film that has been accepted by other film festivals because they know it has passed numerous screenings. We do need assistance in this effort as every festival includes a fee to submit (often $50) and there are also deadlines for submission including deadlines for this week. Most film festivals also do not have the budget to cover the transportation costs of all of the filmmakers whose films they select. The crowdfund for our new film that is in progress: HOODOO - Akan Ancestral Religion in North America, is the link below where you can contribute to our effort. When we travel to these festivals, some of the footage of the experience will be included in the new film. Our first film festival event is this weekend, November 7-10th in Los Angeles. Our film will be screened on Memeneda (Saturday) and we have been asked to speak on a panel on indigenous religions on the following day. Myself and Voodoo Queen Kalindah Laveaux will be attending and speaking. Your contribution to our crowdfund will assist not only with travel expenses for this festival, the submissions fees for those festivals whose deadlines are this week and also related expenses for additional 4K memory cards (one good memory card for our 4K camera for example is $80 on sale) for shooting additional footage. Contribute below today and we appreciate your support. Our work will reach a much larger percentage of our people through the film festivals here and around the world: www.fundrazr.com/Hoodoo_Akan_Film Yeda ase... Odwirafo

Mikyia mo (Greetings).. We have updated our page which includes a new announcement. We will be hosting our very own annual film festival in 13020 (2020). Our HOODOO film will be one of the featured films screened at our new festival. This is why our plans changed regarding the initial goal of releasing our new film this month at the HOODOO MAYN: Hoodoo Nation Festival. The Nananom Nsamanfo had a larger vision. Our new film will anchor our new annual film festival which will showcase films from Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) filmmakers from within Odwiraman - Purified Nation in the West. We will have at least 10 films screened over the course of the weekend at a state of the art theater during our annual HOODOO MAYN: Hoodoo Nation Festival. This will give the opportunity for thousands of our people to come out and be educated, entertained and empowered by documentaries, dramatic films, biopics and more - all rooted in our authentic cultural values. More information will be released on this new endeavor shortly. We will be traveling to Los Angeles next month as our film was selected to be screened at the Pembroke Taparelli Arts and Film Festival in California. We will also be in Texas the following week as our film was also selected to be screened in connection with the Carver Museum's exhibit on Conjure. Please contribute to this crowdfund effort today as we are now moving ahead to complete our new film on Hoodoo and are organizing for our own film festival.. It been a while I haven't been able to contribute to the effort. Here's mine for this month.
Update on HOODOO Film: Mikyia mo (Greetings).. We are at 4% of our crowdfunding goal for our new HOODOO film. We aim to complete the filming in the late spring and early summer. Our goal is to have the film ready for release for our 5th annual HOODOO MAYN: Hoodoo Nation Festival in October. Please share our fundrazr link with your contacts. We can get to 100% of our goal with about 140 contributors. We have had 8 contributors so far with a couple of people contributing more than once. We can definitely get this done ahead of schedule. If you liked our first film you will love the second film as we will go into detail about our cosmology and trustory in a narrative fashion - from Ancient Khanit and Kamit to Afurakanu/Afuraitkaitnut (Africans) in North america. Yeda ase for continued support and contributions to our effort.. For those who are interested there is a recurrent contribution option when contributing. For example some have a $25 or $15 monthly contribution which is automatic. This helps us greatly and will get us to the goal over the next three months: www.fundrazr.com/Hoodoo_Akan_Film Odwirafo
