Halifax Chapter hasn't added a story.

June 19th HOPE in Action Events in Halifax

While it looks like we cannot gather in person on June 19th for fundraising efforts to help our community, we can still be “Active” in our “HOPE” for a better world! Please join us for one of the following events that our Chapter has arranged for participants to join on that day!

“Baking for a Better World”

Please pick your favourite dish or dessert to make on Saturday, June 19th. Get your friends to sponsor your efforts. All proceeds to go to help fight Food Insecurity initiatives in Halifax.

Don’t forget to take and post a photo of your finished creation on Facebook or Instagram with the following hashtag: #HOPEinActionYHZ

As well, if you’d like to donate your cooking (or baking) results to the local Sunday Supper program, please let us know and we can make those arrangements.

For more details, please contact Marie Elle Charlemagne at: MarieElle.Charlemagne@HOPEwwCanada.org

Time: Saturday, June 19th @  10 AM Atlantic **PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME**

Please check back later for Zoom details

“Jump Rope for HOPE”

For our participants who would like to get a little more active, either indoors or outdoors, we have arranged for a 1-hour remote event on Saturday, June 19th. So, grab a skipping rope, and get your friends to join you or support you as we get our hearts working and help our community with our funds raised!

Don’t forget to take and post a photo of yourself before or after your event on Facebook or Instagram with the following hashtag: #HOPEinActionYHZ

For more details, please contact Ciana Turcotte at: ciana.turcotte@hotmail.com

 Time: Saturday, June 19th 4:30 – 5:30 PM Atlantic

Please check back later for Zoom details

“Local Dog Walk for HOPE”

During this pandemic, many have struggled with feelings of isolation. One of the ways some have overcome this challenge and assisted their overall mental well-being is with the support of a canine friend. To join us in this event, please stroll through your local park or a trail on Saturday, June 19th (following current COVID safety parameters) with your favourite canine friend to help raise awareness for local animal shelters.

This event will be raising funds to help people in community battle food insecurity, by purchasing Sobeys gift cards that will be given to a local Animal Hospital, and they will distribute to their clients who are in need.

Individuals will walk any reasonable distance safely in their neighbourhood following local Health Protocols and may post pictures and videos of themselves with the following hashtag: #HOPEinActionYHZ

For more details, please contact Sanjay Thompson at sanjay.thompson@hopewwcanada.org

“Move Your Feet”

This event is the perfect opportunity to start the summer on the right foot by walking, running, cycling, or moving your feet in any way you wish to raise funds for the foot care clinic. Set a goal and share your personal fundraising page so friends can sponsor your fundraising efforts and support the clinic.

You are welcome to take part in the event as one-time activity such as a walk, run, or bicycle ride (following current Public Health safe distance guidelines) on June 19 or you can move your feet toward a personal goal from now to June 19.

How to participate:

Register with the HOPE Halifax Chapter at https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/HalifaxChapter/join

There is a $20 registration fee that includes a t-shirt. Please register by June 1st if you wish to receive your t-shirt by June 19th. Please feel free to register after June 1, but you may not receive your t-shirt by June 19th. The registration fee does not go to the clinic, but all donations you receive through your fundraising page go to the clinic.

Personalize your fundraising page

Share some information about your fundraising efforts and the wonderful clinic your sponsors are supporting when they donate. Set a goal and let everyone know how you plan to move your feet, for example:

I am fundraising in support of the Walk in our Shoes foot care clinic, a clinic that provides free foot care to all members of our community.

I hope to raise $100 in support of the clinic or

I plan to walk 100 km by June 19 and I hope to raise $5 per km for a total of $500 or

I plan to roller-skate 20 km on June 19 and I hope to raise $10 per km for a total of $200

Share your fundraising page

Share your progress

We would love to see how you move your feet in support of the foot care clinic!

Take a photo and share it on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtags #moveyourfeet and #HOPEinActionYHZ

“Yoga for the Sole”

Want to join us in supporting a good cause while improving your mental and physical health? You’re invited to join our Yoga For the Sole virtual fundraiser on Saturday, June 19th. Funds raised will directly support the Walk in our Shoes foot care clinic, which is aimed at providing preventative foot care as well as shoes and socks to vulnerable populations.

 How to participate:

This 1-hour Zoom yoga session will be guided by a trained yoga instructor and is open to individuals of all abilities! In hoping to raise funds for the clinic, we have set a separate participation fee of $5 (this is separate from the $ 20 HOPE in Action Registration Fee); if you feel more comfortable making a donation of a different amount, we welcome that too! This separate participation fee for "Yoga for the Sole" can be sent to WIOS.clinic@gmail.com. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please reach out to Loukman Ghouti at: LoukmanGhouti@dal.ca. We can’t wait to see you there !

Time: Saturday, June 19th @ 4 PM AST

Please check back later for Zoom details

Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
