UPDATE:  The B29/B24 SQUADRON is honored and humbled by the unbelievable show of support of the hundreds of donors who have chosen to further the CAF's mission through our efforts to reach people nationally with the B-24 Diamond 'Lil.  You have closed the gap on funding our R-1830 engine overhaul, but many other people are still contacting us to see how they can help.  The next step in this process will be to prepare this engine and pair it with all of the components that will make it work and keep 'Lil moving this summer on tour!  This process will take approximately $17,000 to build up the remainder of the Quick Engine Change Assembly.   Due to the outpouring of support, we are increasing our goal to $37,000 to include this next milestone.  Thank you profoundly to those who have made this possible and please feel free to tell your friends about your donation and welcome them to join the team!

The B-24A, Diamond Lil, is currently the only flying example of U.S. Military History's most widely produced aircraft, the Liberator. Including all variants, 20,000 B-24s were produced, and more military service members served on these aircraft than any other in World War II.  Diamond Lil is a cornerstone aircraft of the CAF’s AirPower History Tour. Each year, the goal of the tour is to reach and present this aircraft to as many people as possible to tell the story of the Liberator and remember those of those who fought and paid the ultimate price in the service of our country.  Operating this aircraft requires unbelievable planning and flexibility. One of the tour's most crucial projects is changing out engines. Volunteers with the AirPower History Tour can remove, prepare, and install one of its Pratt & Whitney R-1830s in days, even in remote locations. This year, the B-24 utilized the last spare engine and is looking to raise money to replace it so that Diamond Lil can effectively fly the 18-week upcoming 2024 tour season.
