SpARC Dance Festival - Amplify, Represent, Create.
Hey 👋 I’m Arielle!
I started SpARC Dance Festival through my dance company, ArcTangent Dance, because I believe my hometown of San José can be a thriving hub for the performing arts. Not just for the big dance companies that come through town, but for the incredible emerging and mid-career choreographers who deserve a place to share their work.
I’m all about breaking down barriers—no gatekeeping, no “you have to know the right people” mentality. Just great dance, high-quality production, and a community that supports its local artists. If that sounds like something you’d love too, let’s make it happen together!

What is SpARC?
The SpARC Dance Festival is a day of dance featuring local choreographers, performers, and artisans.
This event is hosted by ArcTangent Dance on National Dance Day, September 20, 2025, in San José, CA, at Mexican Heritage Plaza.
The festival is made up of three components:

SpARC is more than a festival—it’s a movement. And YOU can be a part of it.
With your financial contribution, you help:
- Cover the cost of the theater rental (which includes paying a living wage to staff of Mexican Heritage Plaza!)
- Provide stipends to the guest choreographers
- Pay the dance teacher for the free dance class for the community
- Alleviate the financial burden of providing food backstage to the performers and volunteers
- Make it possible to have stellar marketing to get the word out
- Offset the cost of working wage for the SpARC staff members

The free community dance class is central to our festival. This class is for all ages, dance levels, and abilities - making it a tough class to lead! This is why it is so important for to pay the dance instructor for their time.
Last year was taught by local and upcoming dancer, Katie Chapin.
More details are coming soon on who the teacher will be for 2025.
For 2026, we hope to add a second dance class in Spanish.
