The Swedish Blood Cancer Fund (Blodcancerfonden) is a non-profit trust fund approved as an official organisation by the Swedish Fundraising Foundation (Svensk Insamlingsstiftelse). Sweden’s only fund specifically targeted to the blood cancer area was established in 1987 by The Swedish Blood Cancer Association (Blodcancerförbundet) with the main purpose of supporting the field of haematology.  A purpose that is fulfilled by handing out grants three times yearly with the help of a committee consisting of leading Swedish haematologists.

Money raised by The Swedish Blood Cancer Fund goes to blood cancer research, education of haematological health personnel and nurturance research.  10 000 Swedish crowns is furthermore distributed to the Haematological Thesis of the Year in conjunction with the yearly educational days arranged by The Swedish Association for Haematologists.  In regards to grants handed out, young researchers as well as nurses within haematology are prioritized. This as The Swedish Blood Cancer Fund strives to be a valuable support for these groups that can have difficulties in acquiring vital funding from other sources.
