The Shaheen cat's rescuer says:

I would first like to start by introducing myself, I’m Sergeant Simon, since October 2019 I’ve been part of the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.  Every contractor and Soldier that has been out to Camp Shaheen in the past couple of years, have had contact with our furry friends.  Currently, these cats are cared for by the NATO forces that occupy the base.  I often visited this camp and built a bond, becoming very attached to these cats. As we draw near to closing this camp, there has been no plan in place to adequately care for these cats.  If left behind, their demise would be inevitable.  There are three cats in total.  The first and the oldest is “Mama Shaheen”.  She arrived at the camp as a kitten in 2016.  She is well known amongst the Coalition forces.  She is very sweet and calm, loved by many soldiers.  In return for her friendship, I would love to take her back with me to the Netherlands.

Next up is “Ronny”, he is the son of Mama Shaheen.  At first, he is very shy, but soon will warm up to you.

These cats have been a great stress reliever, while bringing so much joy to me while I’ve been deployed. When the time comes for me to leave Afghanistan, I will not leave them behind.  I would love the opportunity to give these cats a full and happy life in the Netherlands.  I know the process is costly, but if enough people are willing to help, I promise to give Mama Shaheen, Ronny, and Baby Shaheen a loving home in the Netherlands.  With your help, together, we will bring them home from this war without the fear of starvation or death.

If, for whatever reason, the companion animal rescue is not successful (such as disease or injury) then at the discretion of Nowzad Dogs, the funds collected via this Fundrazr page will be allocated to support the vital daily operational costs of the Nowzad Dogs small animal clinic and shelter in Kabul
The total required for a companion animal to travel to North America is usually a minimum of $5000 for a dog and at least $3000 for a cat (we make no profit and everything is subject to currency valuations and fuel prices on the day). We are sadly unable to offer refunds on donations.
