Did you know that human trafficking makes $150 billion a year?
Ending the despicable, modern-day slavery of women and children is something I am passionate about. As a Christian, I believe that every person is a unique image bearer of God who has been fearfully and wonderfully made. All people ought to be treated with dignity and respect. It grieves and angers me to know that women and children are being enslaved and abused in the most degrading manner. They are being treated as less than human – no different than the Atlantic slave trade. I have a strong desire to ramp up my involvement in this fight, and I am encouraged by the opportunity provided by 8848 so that I can amplify my impact.
I love hiking in the Rocky Mountains and am blessed to live so close to them! By hiking the equivalent of Mt. Everest this year, I will need to train hard and get out of my comfort zone. It won't be easy, but it will be a constant reminder of those who are trapped and suffer everyday.

THE PROBLEM
Sex Trafficking is one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world. Here in Canada, this crime takes place daily in our biggest cities and our smallest towns. The average victim of sex trafficking is recruited into the industry between the ages of 11-14. As you read these words, an estimated 50 million people are living in slavery. Stripped of their safety, dignity and liberty. This is nearly 1 in 150 humans. It's already illegal, now it needs to end.
THE MISSION
Our mission is to end the crime of sex trafficking by helping ordinary people stand with local and global anti-trafficking initiatives. Together we raise funds and awareness for our partner organizations as they fight sexual exploitation by Preventing trafficking, Rescuing victims, and Restoring survivors.
THE CHALLENGE
This August, Climbers will take on the elevation of Everest, here in the Canadian Rockies, at the 5th annual Freedom Everest Freedom Challenge. 100% of the proceeds will go to our partner organizations: Her Victory and International Justice Mission. Since our inception in 2020, over 1200 contributors have been involved in raising over $325,000 through our annual Everest Freedom Challenge. Now, we invite you to join the Groundswell too.
