The Background
You all know Andy. A few months back you helped him address bi-lateral peritoneal hernia. He sailed through that procedure, but today a mass that was removed from his leg has recurred and is growing rapidly. Sadly, we know that Andy must have an amputation to stop the tumor from growing further and metastasizing through his body and potentially ending his life.
We reached out to our favorite surgeon at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, Dr Jill Sammarco yesterday and have Andy on the surgical schedule, but the cost stands in our way. Almost $7,000. Before you fall over, this surgery means life for Andy. It will cover the removal of his leg and the end to the fact that the cancerous cells causing the mass can spread. Of course there is hospitalization, pre-op x-rays and lab work. The best news is that Andy has an excellent prognosis and will go on to have a great quality of life. It all begins with outstanding medical care and that all begins with your support.
Today's Mission
What do we do now? A pre-op medical protocol is in place and we are keeping a tight eye on Andy for signs of emergency, but your help is desperately needed today. We have hope, but remember, nothing is free to the rescue and leaves its mark and its cost. Without support from kindhearted people like you Andy's life is in danger. Please consider him and make a difference today.
This is a very special case and we know the DRBC Gang can make a difference for this little one. It is going to take a village so tell your friends, share the story and let’s raise as much as we can! Andy really needs you and we are begging you...make that difference now!
![]() | Your Lifesaving ImpactOK, this is an easy one. Step 1: Think of how much help you can provide towards Andy's care. Step 2. Pick your donation amount or fill in an amount of your choosing. Step 4: Check out and smile. You just helped to save a life!
Easy and impactful! Best of Andy gets the gift of life thanks to your generosity and support. We say it all the time, but we mean it from our hearts...no one does it like the DRBC Gang!Let's make it happen!!

Where the Funds Go
We have only one goal for this incredibly important fundraiser: saving Andy's life. This tumor, which is most likely malignant requires we take the drastic step of amputating his leg. This begins with surgery, continues with ongoing orthopedic support and overall saves Andy from a devastating form of Cancer. We hope you will step up and lend a hand. Remember, life has already failed him once and we know how things are with the DRBC Gang...you won't let that happen a second time. Let's keep this little life going for years to come!
Our Thanks
Remember, generous support is desperately needed and greatly appreciated. Like many non-profit organizations DRBC is a 501[c][3] operated solely by volunteers. We have been dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, re-homing and educating families about this breed for over 42 years. We welcome and need your benevolent tax-deductible donation. Please, help us to help them.
We welcome you to stay tuned for updates. Until then, Andy, all the rescue doxies and the DRBC Team thank you.

The DRBC Mission
Founded in 1984 by Bucks County, PA, and New Jersey dachshund lovers, DRBC is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization supported completely by donations. Our all-volunteer organization, which has been in existence for over 36 years, works tirelessly for the benefit of dachshunds, dachshund mixes, and the animal owning public. DRBC serves the needs of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Delaware.
DRBC’s mission is five-fold:
- Rescue abandoned, owner relinquished neglected, or stray dachshunds or dachshund mixes.
- Rehabilitate through excellent medical and behavioral support those in our care.
- Re-home those in our charge with an emphasis on their personality and not a quick fix based on needed space.
- Provide life-long sanctuary to those with long-term medical/behavioral issues. Additionally, DRBC supports the long-term sanctuary of senior dachshunds.
- Finally, we seek to provide community education to enhance the life and well-being of all pets through the DRBC community education program.
DRBC prides itself as an organization on the level of medical care provided and in its role as a medical resource for the dachshund breed. Community education is at the forefront of the DRBC mission.
We endeavor to obtain all dachshunds in animal shelters thus avoiding euthanasia. We also aid owners in recovering lost or stolen pets.
