N49238, built in 1942, was used to train pilots for WWII. We marked her 83rd birthday this November. The Corsicana airfield, set up during the war to train pilots, operated PT-19 aircraft like ours. Our plane is called The Pride of Corsicana due to its close ties to Corsicana, TX.
We are proud to bring this aircraft to air shows around the state. We offer rides to anyone aged 12 or older, giving them an idea of what young men in the 1940s experienced when they began flying—often coming straight from the farm. Pilots trained on planes like these to develop their skills, eventually moving on to fly aircraft such as the B-17, B-25, or even the P-51 during World War II. For many, this was the very first airplane they ever saw.
With your support over the past two years, we have successfully sourced and acquired the replacement brake system hardware, enhancing the aircraft's maintainability and reliability. Now that the necessary equipment is on hand, we respectfully request your continued assistance to complete this conversion. Any contribution is greatly appreciated, and we thank you in advance for your generosity. Our target is $5,000; combined with contributions from our members, this will substantially offset the installation costs associated with these modifications.
Coyote Squadron is honored to present our aircraft at regional air shows. We consider it a significant responsibility to educate younger generations about the aviation heritage of their predecessors. It is vital to inform them about the contributions of the men and women who served the nation during both peace and conflict. Presenting operational historical aircraft allows us to fulfil the mission of the Commemorative Air Force by directly connecting the public with these important artifacts of history.
If you donate $250 or more, you'll receive a Coyote Squadron patch to add to your collection. For every $500 you contribute, you'll get a certificate for a T-34B flight, which you can redeem at Corsicana or any of our travel locations near you over the next few years.
