Picture a world where families and children find solace in a secure and nurturing home, and the weary of the destitute find comfort through acts of kindness. 

Our poverty-alleviating initiatives are a tangible expression of Christian love in action. I am interning at an esteemed development agency called International Teams Canada (iTeams) in Woolwich, ON. iTeams has provided funding, logistical support, and networks to innovative community-led programs that serve people living in poverty and vulnerable situations in Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe for many years.

In a world where we often get lost in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it is easy to overlook the struggles the marginalized and underprivileged face. Yet, within each of us lies the capacity to be a source of light for those living in the shadows of poverty. 

I’m moved by the opportunity to work with local leaders who serve their communities diligently and compassionately. I get to witness their passion in fighting for justice, providing a safe place for children and the overflow of their tenderness towards their community despite the challenges faced. Hearing their stories and their pursuit of hope in everything enriches me, painting a colourful picture of resilient strength, kindness and hopefulness. 

I get to witness people in the community here in Canada advocate for causes that not only move their hearts emotionally but drive them into action. My team is working sacrificially to seek innovative and creative solutions to help our partnering organizations. I get to see people collectively work together towards one common goal. 

In the eyes of those you touch, you will be much more than a donor. You will symbolize love and resilience, reminding them they are not alone in their struggle. Your kindness can plant the seeds of transformation, nurturing dreams that have been hidden.
