The Background
Did you know that one of the most heartbreaking things we face here at the rescue are dogs suffering abuse and neglect. Two of our most recent really need your support. This is the tale of Teddy and Barney. Many of you saw Teddy arrive on social media; he was terrified and came from a background of abuse. Off camera this past weekend Barney joined us and we will let the picture speak for itself. The Medical Team experienced everything from anger to sadness over this little one.
Today's Mission
The pictures we have posted surely have pulled at your heartstrings; they did ours. Both dogs need a specialized form of support and we are hoping you can lend a hand.
Teddy is only 1Y old and did not know a day without domestic abuse until he came to DRBC. The work he needs has already begun, but he remains terrified of people. We are utilizing Fear Fee practices, but are thinking he needs the services of a behaviorist.
Barney...well the picture says it all. He needs a trip to Red Bank to see a nutritionist and cardiology. Another week or two and we believe Barney's life would have ended.
Often, we come to you with our big surgical needs, but behind the scenes there are cases like the two boys that need equal exposure and support. Please reach out today and make the difference that matters...give!

Where the Funds Go
We have only one goal for this incredibly important fundraiser: the gift of life for our beloved doxies. This begins with treatment, continues with ongoing support and overall leads to a great quality of life for every one of them. We hope you will step up and lend a hand. The DRBC Mission
Founded in 1984 by Bucks County, PA, and New Jersey dachshund lovers, DRBC is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization supported completely by donations. Our all-volunteer organization, which has been in existence for over 36 years, works tirelessly for the benefit of dachshunds, dachshund mixes, and the animal owning public. DRBC serves the needs of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Delaware.
DRBC’s mission is five-fold:
- Rescue abandoned, owner relinquished neglected, or stray dachshunds or dachshund mixes.
- Rehabilitate through excellent medical and behavioral support those in our care.
- Re-home those in our charge with an emphasis on their personality and not a quick fix based on needed space.
- Provide life-long sanctuary to those with long-term medical/behavioral issues. Additionally, DRBC supports the long-term sanctuary of senior dachshunds.
- Finally, we seek to provide community education to enhance the life and well-being of all pets through the DRBC community education program.
DRBC prides itself as an organization on the level of medical care provided and in its role as a medical resource for the dachshund breed. Community education is at the forefront of the DRBC mission.
We endeavor to obtain all dachshunds in animal shelters thus avoiding euthanasia. We also aid owners in recovering lost or stolen pets.
