The Main Story
This adorable little girl is Piper. You just want to scoop her up and love the daylights out of her...then it strikes you...the huge tumor on her chest...and there are more on her abdomen. Our veterinarians have taken a look and are concerned. These are not lymphomas or fatty tumors. She needs life saving surgery and she needs it as soon as possible. It is heartbreaking to all of us that know her here in the rescue and it is time we get her to specialty and address her needs.
So why did this happen? Piper is very sweet and energetic and should be in a new home being loved, but her previous owners neglected to spay her and that has led to two big problems: a mass on her chest and one on her mammary gland. We worry constantly that the masses are malignant. This can be a death sentence if not addressed ASAP.
This is a very special case and we know the DRBC Gang can make a difference for this little one. It is going to take a village so tell your friends, share the story and let’s raise as much as we can! Piper really needs you and we are begging you...make that difference now!
Our Plan
We will approach Piper's care systematically and thoughtfully. Here’s how we plan to proceed over the coming days:
- Upon her arrival, Piper underwent a thorough examination, after which we sent her blood and urine samples to a reference laboratory for in-depth analysis. Cost: $625
- Next, it’s time for a special trip to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital to consult with the exceptional Dr. Jill Sammarco . Cost: $375
- Piper will need a x-rays and specialized surgery. Cost: $7250
- Hospitalization, medication and follow-up care. Cost: $800
The expenses add up quickly, don’t they? So why put in the effort? Because every life holds immense value here at DRBC and this little pup, who is only three [3] years old, deserves every opportunity we can provide.
