Since 2020, Stop Ecocide Canada has been meeting with senators, members of Parliament and government officials across the country. Why? To educate and engage our decision makers about ecocide law : a law that has the power to make it a crime to severely harm nature .

Last November, Stop Ecocide Canada organised a press
conference and a panel
discussion in Ottawa to generate the
first-ever cross party dialogue on the criminalisation of
the mass destruction of nature.
Among the attendees were lawyers, members from the Office of the
Supreme Court and representatives from the
Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Environment and
Climate Change, the Ministry of Global Affairs, as well as the
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and to
the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. This
historic event was covered by The National
Observer, APTN News
and Franco Presse.
Our visit to Ottawa in 2022 sparked interest
in various offices of the federal government... So we are coming
back to continue the conversation on protecting nature by making
ecocide law a reality.
On May 31st, Stop Ecocide Canada is returning to
Ottawa to host a panel discussion "Living within
Planetary Boundaries: The Business Case for Ecocide Law" and
organise a reception. We want to keep engaging our politicians on
this topic and
this time we are getting business leaders and financial
experts involved.

lodging and food, as well as the logistics of running the event,
from promotion to catering. We would also like to have
the event recorded by a professional team so that we can share it
with you all and make it widely accessible.

our team that is solely run by volunteers.
Stop Ecocide Canada is dedicated to influence Canadian politicians
to recognize ecocide law and in-person conversations make a real

ABOUT US
We are the Canadian chapter of the global movement 'Stop
Ecocide'. Our work is focused on bringing the topic of ecocide
into Canadian political spaces and amongst civil society. Our aim is
to make the mass destruction of nature, ecocide, a crime at the
national and international level by raising awareness about this
essential missing piece of legislation.
