Lately, it has been pouring doxies here at DRBC.  So many needing a new start.  We help as best we can and cross our fingers that no major medical crisis will befall us, but in rescue, one is generally not that lucky.  When the phone rang to tell us of a little one found on the streets of New York, we knew we had to help.  This is the story of Gus, the miracle dog.

Horrifically, Gus has been burned.  The decaying skin must be addressed ASAP and Gus faces a long road of recovery. He is so sweet and accepting of our love and this treatment of any animal is so cruel and unjust.  We will never know who did this, but life has a way of taking care of people like this.  Meanwhile, this is graphic for us to look at and outrageously painful for him to suffer through.  And as a bonus he has a tumor on his hind end that needs attention.  Poor Gus.

We considered letting Gus go over the bridge but want to give him every chance.  Like many of you, we care.  Today, Gus will be seen at RBVH.  Amazingly he still has time for a wag of his tail and a kiss.  We are astounded that he can love through the pain.
