Mr. and Mrs. Weiser and students of the University of Texas Austin feel strongly that a campaign to keep continued awareness of the need for safety and self-defense classes for our youth be kept alive. Students are often out on their own in the world and, in particular, our seniors leaving home for the first time to go off to jobs and or college. The slogan "Walk With Me" came out of discussions between the Weisers and the UT students, and will be our main theme for this year's Dance West Concert.

The dance piece called "Lifted", choreographed by David Ward, is about a community coming together to create something beautiful in memory of a departed one. The dance depicts the comfort that is brought to all by making a beautiful work of art together that will last through time. It will raise awareness of the importance of community in healing. Our intent is to bring attention to the need to support and protect our youth by giving them the necessary tools to be safe and comforted. Whether that be through the arts or classes specifically designed for personal safety. We feel this project is two-fold: it will help comfort and raise awareness for the funds that we are actively raising for safety classes.

The money that we are requesting is for the actual production costs of "Lifted".
