King's Christian Collegiate hasn't added a story.
Hey King’s Community!
Please let us share a bit of our story. We are two King’s students who were blessed with the opportunity to travel with many other passionate King’s students to Los Alcarrizos, Dominican Republic last year.
Throughout the trip, our team served in a community called Alta Gracia, where we learned to make cement, lay bricks, and help build a water purification system within the community. Although working in the hot sun was difficult, it helped us appreciate the challenging situations that many Dominicans experience daily. Along with our physical work, we also had an opportunity to personally deliver rice and beans to families who struggle to meet their daily basic needs for food and health care. Things that we all too often take for granted. On our journey, we greeted many school-aged children and prayed with them and their families. It was a beautifully inspiring experience knowing that God’s love knows no bounds.
One home that we approached to offer a gift of beans, bible, and prayer was the home of an elderly woman who asked that we pray for her health and safety. After the prayer, she invited us into her home and began to show us the deep wound on her back. It was surreal. She was showing us what we were praying for, and she told us that she will pray for us also. It was so beautiful to experience this reciprocal gift of prayer. We were truly humbled.
Just as the love of Christ was freely given to us, we also should freely give to others. As Christians, we are given the responsibility to care for others in need, to act graciously and kindly to those around us, and to give freely, as Christ gave to us. Light represents hope and the belief that things will get better. With your generous donations, and through the Kings community, we can be a beacon of light, a symbol of hope, and the love of Christ for those who need us in the DR.
Please consider supporting our campaign to raise funds for 20 tablets that will give 20 students the chance to continue their education from home. We are blessed to be a blessing!
Like schools all around the world, Impact Dominican Republic's Lighthouse School is preparing for an unprecedented school year, requiring students to participate in virtual learning from home. In order for students to participate, each child needs access to a tablet, which many students and their families can't afford to buy.
The Lighthouse School has the overall goal of purchasing 150 tablets between supporters in Canada and the US. To help contribute to this initiative, Impact DR is aiming to raise enough money for 20 students to have tablets- $4,800.00
Your support isn't just about a piece of technology- it's about supporting a school that cares deeply about the education of the most vulnerable and seeing them succeed in these difficult and unprecedented times.
Would you consider sponsoring the full cost of a tablet, or contributing to the purchase of one? Your donation will qualify for a charitable receipt.
