Join us in September for an Epic Challenge!
This year from September 28th to October 5th, a team representing Thrive for Good will set out to summit Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for people living on one meal or less a day.
Our mission is to empower these communities to grow their own nutritious food, sustainably. Together, we can combat global hunger and malnutrition, a crisis that has reached unprecedented levels.
Our goal with the climb is to raise $100,000 to start gardens in 100 communities, feeding 5,000 people from those gardens every day.
The Global Hunger Crisis
Imagine the entire population of Europe facing food insecurity—missing meals for days, children experiencing stunted growth, and severe malnutrition. This is the reality for millions around the world today. The fight against global hunger and malnutrition is urgent and critical. By participating in this fundraiser, you can help us provide sustainable solutions to this crisis.
The Climb: A Journey to the Top of Africa
Each year, a team of determined individuals embarks on the incredible 6-day climb of the tallest peak in Africa, which sits proudly at 19,340 feet. This journey is not just a test of endurance but a testament to the spirit of giving and solidarity.
This year, Penny Oleksiak, Canada’s most decorated Olympian, Paris 2024 athlete, and World Champion Swimmer will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with a few of her friends and the Thrive team to raise awareness and funds for families and communities in need. Penny, a celebrated athlete, joins us to champion the cause and inspire others to take action.
Penny was born on June 13th, 2000, in Toronto. In her short career, she has become known for her exciting come-from-behind victories and clutch performances. Penny gained international recognition after winning four medals at age 16 – one gold, one silver, and two bronze – at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which was her first Senior National Team Event. At the Tokyo 2020 Games, Penny won three medals (one silver and two bronze), officially making her tied for the most decorated Canadian Olympian of all time.

Be Inspired - Thrive on Kilimanjaro Documentary
In September 2021, a team of eight, including 68-year-old founder Dale Bolton, set out to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. They did this to raise awareness for Thrive’s work, conquer obstacles and showcase that significant change starts with a single step.
Filmmaker Nate Slaco documented the story along the seven-day Machame route to create an impactful documentary.
If you ever wanted to see what it’s like to climb this iconic mountain, you won’t want to miss this incredible film!
