How can you help? Register for One Night Without a Home!
When dedicated people get behind a cause, great things can happen. That's why we need you.
Please join a fundraising team or create a team of your own. Then share your belief in our cause with your friends on Social Media and email. It's easy and all funds go securely to Knox County Homeless Coalition.
We hope that you’ll join us at the sleep out, but we welcome people who just want to fundraise as well. Everything helps! Together with a few good people like you, we can raise awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness and the need for affordable housing.
Thank you for your interest in KCHC's 3rd Annual One Night Without A Home! Fundraising is ongoing through September 24. The "sleep-out" begins Friday, September 24 and ends at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25 and will be held on the Village Green in Camden, ME (between Chestnut Street Baptist Church and the Town Office on Elm Street). Participants are encouraged to stay the entire night, but are not required to do so if they become unable to finish the challenge. Any participant under the age of 18 must attend the Sleepout under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
This fundraiser challenge supports the work of Knox County Homeless Coalition - serving Knox, Waldo and part of Lincoln Counties.
Thank You to our 2021 Sponsors. Please support these local businesses.

Can I raise money for this event without sleeping out?
Yes, register as a fundraiser only by clicking the register button and chose to join a team or participate as an individual and when prompted choose the option "I will not be sleeping out, I'm just fundraising" to support the mission.
Can my friends and family support my team and pay by check?
Yes, to make sure their donation is credited to your team, have them put your team name on the memo line and mail it to:
Knox County Homeless Coalition, ONWAH, PO Box 1696, Rockland, ME 04841
I'm not very tech savvy, can I get some help with setting up my fundraiser page or team?
Yes, email info@homehelphope.org and we'll have someone reach out about how to get started.
What if I sign up to sleep out and I am unable to make it through the night?
This is a challenge, but if for some reason you cannot make it through the night take care of yourself accordingly—no judgement here, we're all just doing our best.
Can I bring a tent?
You may bring a tent, but we ask that you only bring what you can carry in and out in about an arm load. Keep in mind this is a "leave-no-trace" event. Also remember, if you were experiencing homelessness you would have to keep your belongings with you wherever you went. We do ask that you keep a form of ID on you in case of an emergency and you may keep a cell phone on you for emergencies.
Can I bring my pet?
We love animals, but for a number of reasons we cannot have pets at this event, please find alternative arrangements for your animals.
Is this event for adults only?
No, however participants under the age of 18 must participate under the supervision of a parent or guardian. There will be testimonials from people who have or are experiencing the harsh realities of homelessness that may not be adapted for a youth audience. Parents and guardians may want to have conversations with young people before they arrive about the types of things they may hear. If you need assistance in how to talk to your child about the experiences of homelessness, please reach out to us at info@homehelphope.org.
Do I need to register ahead of time to sleep out?
Yes, to join the event you will need to register as an individual or as a team through the registration button and subsequent form here online.
Do I need to raise a certain amount of money to participate?
We ask that everyone sleeping out set a goal of at least $100. Fundraisers who raise more than $250 we will receive a T-Shirt from this year's event. There will be prizes however for the top fundraisers so there's no need to stop at $250.
What are other ways to support this event?
You can also support this event by coming to the program portion of the evening where you'll be able to encourage those sleeping out, hear about KCHC's work in the community, the need for affordable housing and shelter in this area, and testimonials from people who have been helped by KCHC over the years.
Come for the program at 6:15-7:30 p.m.
Check out the important facts around the Green all weekend long (bring a friend too).
You can share the link to the event on social media with your circle of friends and encourage them to share as well as support teams that are sleeping out or attend the event.
Sign up for the KCHC newsletter to be made aware of new information and programs you can support throughout the year.
