The Main Story
Say hello to little Wolfie. Wolfie is a fighter. We know that because of the horrible start he had in life and his drive to live through it. As you can tell from his pictures, this little one is emaciated. Why? His life began on a series of dairy products. Thank you Dr's Google, Internet and FaceBoook. We are still shaking our heads over this one. On a sound diet today, Wolfie remains anemic and unable to gain weight. His ribs are evident and we are concerned that without specialized support Wolfie may not be here much longer.
Since his arrival Wolfie has had additional feedings, high calorie foods and a diet designed for underweight dogs. His ability to produce red blood cells continues to lessen, his gums are gray and pale and he sleeps more than he should. Wolfie needs an internal medicine specialist and possibly a nutritionist. We have a plan.
Wolfie is an incredibly loving soul and with proper specialized care, his future holds much promise; however, it’s crucial to obtain a clear diagnosis and treatment plan before it is too late. Thankfully, we have a such a plan in place, so we invite you to stay engaged and join Team Wolfie!
Our Plan
We will approach Wolfie's care systematically and thoughtfully. Here’s how we plan to proceed over the coming days:
- Upon his arrival, Gilbert underwent a thorough examination, after which we sent his blood and urine samples to a reference laboratory for in-depth analysis. Cost: $625
- Next, it’s time for a special trip to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital to consult with the exceptional Dr. Elena Kabatchnick . Cost: $375
- Wolfie will need a specialized Ultrasound and radiological read. Cost: $1250
- Specialized diet and medication and follow-up care. Cost: $800
The expenses add up quickly, don’t they? So why put in the effort? Because every life holds immense value here at DRBC and this little pup, who is only five [5] years old, deserves every opportunity we can provide.
