Hi! I'm a science and engineering teacher and robotics coach at BHS and, as a former engineer, am excited about our developing engineering pathway!  I'm passionate about helping students explore career possibilities they may not otherwise think about and provide an engaging, hands-on project-based environment to collaboratively problem solve. 

This project's primary purpose is to provide equipment (robot base kits, sensors, and other electronics) to set up the hospital delivery vehicle project for our year 2 course in the emerging BHS engineering pathway, where students build and program a robot to make medication deliveries and free up time for care staff to spend more quality time on patient care.  Additionally, these items can be used by students for multiple years and for other project ideas as well.

As a secondary benefit, this equipment will also be used by our growing robotics team to do outreach in our community with custom projects such as elementary school STEM night interactive presentations and other outreach.  Our FIRST FRC Robotics team visits multiple elementary and middle schools with their competition robot and also hosts a STEM summer camp for BSD elementary and middle school students.  This would add a great element for our students to use to teach and inspire other students about STEM.  With these applications 60 high school students would directly benefit along with the 30+ elementary and middle school students who we anticipate will attend our robotics summer camp, as well as all those we reach with STEM night visits.

$400 will go toward the Robot bases (Turtle Robot platforms for Arduino & Raspberry Pi)

$250 will go toward the necessary motor add-ons (Motor Hats for Raspberry Pi) and rechargeable battery sets

$350 will go toward the sensors (IR distance sensors), speakers, wiring, accessories for soldering, and other electronic accessories needed to make the robots
