The Background
Please say hello to a very special little boy here at DRBC; this is Lloyd Stanley. He is just 6 yrs old and to watch him walk around and play it becomes quickly apparent that he is a bit of a Lego doxie. Part of him is a mini, but part is a tweenie. His coat too can't decide if he is a long or short haired guy. Just a lot of genetic confusion going on there. One thing is unmistakable though...Lloyd is having difficulty breathing and it is worsening by the week. This little guy is so loving and so special; he is part of the DRBC Therapy Team and takes great pride and joy in meeting people and spreading the word about rescue and being a dachshund. We love him and are heartbroken as we watch him struggle.
Today's Mission
Every night the vaporizer goes on to help Lloyd breathe. The Oxygen crate is standing by to assist him if needed and he has tried several antibiotic and steroid rounds without success. It is time to ramp up our efforts to give this guy the specialty care he so desperately needs.
The Internal Medicine Specialists would love to get at the underlying cause leading to this little guys persistent cough and breathing issues. This means a day in the hospital, lab work, radiographs and an MRI and that's at a minimum. Veterinary medicine is no small undertaking, but for little Lloyd it means a long and happy life.
Often we come to you with dogs that have faced neglect and abuse, but today we come to you asking for support of one that has aleady made an impact in the community. Lloyd is active at events, visits rehab facilities and is a real charmer with children and seniors. We so want him to be able to continue those efforts and bring joy to those whom he meets.
